What Others Say
Today was going to be the last time I ever came to this dealership for service--because of how bad the experience was when Randy Doan was not here. Ironically, the only reason I ever got to meet Randy was because of that terrible service experience. I left a review, and Randy personally reached out to me. That call completely changed my perception of this service department.
Randy Doan is an exceptional asset to this dealership, and he is the only reason I drive nearly 40 miles to have my car serviced here when there are at least four or five Toyota dealerships much closer to me. Unlike another manager I dealt with during Randy's absence, Andy actually listens. He does not dismiss concerns, minimize issues, or deflect responsibility--he addresses problems head-on and follows through. The other manager Andy was, quite frankly, absolutely useless.
When I heard Randy was back from his leave today, I was genuinely elated. While he was out, I needed basic information from the service manager for an insurance claim after another car hit me. What should have been a simple request turned into an exhausting, frustrating ordeal--it was like pulling teeth.
Randy's professionalism, responsiveness, and accountability stand in stark contrast to how poorly the service department was managed without him. I truly hope this dealership understands what a gem he is, because I am certain I am not the only customer who continues servicing their vehicle here solely because of him.
If Randy had not returned, I would never come back. The only reason this dealership receives five stars from me is because of Randy Doan., WITHOUT RANDY HERE ZERO STAR IS TOO MANY FOR THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT'S MANAGEMENT. I sincerely hope leadership recognizes his value--and also understands just how awful service management was in his absence.
First of all: I don't understand if I went to Toyota to buy a car or to buy extended insurance. I said I wanted to buy a Grand Highlander Max Platinum, and they said they wouldn't sell the car unless I also bought KARR security for $1900 and an exhaust pipe insurance policy. Only then would they agree to take my order.
Secondly: When I was doing the financing paperwork, I wanted to buy additional accessories for the car, and I wanted them included in the car purchase paperwork. They said NO and claimed it couldn't be done. They said that when the car arrived, they would help me buy the accessories and give me a 20% labor discount. But I later realized they did this to make more money off me because even with the discount, the price would still be much higher than if I went through Toyota Smart Parts, where the price is much lower. After they realized I knew this, they finally agreed to do it for me. However, they didn't give me the discount they promised, which I only found out after signing the paperwork.
Thirdly: I bought a Toyota dashcam, but no one knew how to use it. I met a female employee at counter number 1 when I went down with the salesman to ask about the Toyota dashcam they had installed for me, but before she even read the paperwork, she said, "We don't sell dashcams here, you should know the password if you installed it." I was completely fed up and couldn't believe what I was hearing. The salesman, Phi Phi, can attest to this. I was very upset, and they told me to come back another day. It's been two weeks now, and I haven't received any calls from them, and no one has contacted me to tell me how to connect it to my phone.
Went into Toyota place to take a look at a new 2025 vehicle. I asked for the girl that had called me to set the appointment up but she was not around, so I walked over to the sales manager, he was able to point me to a sales staff person to show me the vehicle and give me a test drive. As usual sitting around on the chair waiting for the tag team process to take place I was hit with a finance person that immediately try to upsell Me by $10,000 in unnecessary add-ons. People;, this kind of shenanigans xxxxxxx dealer ripoffs or known as add-ons went away in the 90s and now dealerships are trying to bring it back. People need to stand up and say no and just walk out. That is exactly what I did.
I recently started shopping for a car, and as someone without experience or connections in the industry, it’s been more complicated than I expected.
At the first dealership I visited (Toyota Place in garden grove), they quoted me $563/month. I tried negotiating down to $450 a fair and reasonable offer for that MSRP, not a lowball. But they looked at me like I was crazy, so I walked out.
Later, I found an offer under $450 at another dealership. I called the original salesperson to let them know I was moving on as I promised to tell them if I did so. Suddenly, I received a call from a guy name Ray (not straight forward/disingenuous) he asked what the offer was and told me to come back in so they could beat it. ( keep in mind that they looked at me crazy when I offered $450 before the 2nd quote I got, now he (Ray) easily offering $420 That felt like a clear attempt to just get me back in the door a tactic that I just learned that car dealership uses.
Here’s where it really crossed the line: once I returned, they claimed my credit score was 650 — nearly 100 points lower than it actually is. My credit has consistently been over 700 all year. It seemed like a tactic to justify a higher price or worse terms by misrepresenting my financial profile, they said they had bad news that my payment it’s going to be $567not $420!!! Surprisingly this was their first offer they gave me before I found a better deal!
THE Worst!! When I didn’t agree to their terms and told them I’m going back to the dealership that gave me the first offer that you claimed to beat, I got a text from the sales rep saying “when someone gets approved through Toyota Financial for financing or leasing, the rate should be the same at any Toyota dealership. They can’t legally offer different rates across stores, so let me know if you wanna move with my offer!
So basically, you can’t go to the first offer you got, that made the Deceptive dealership to lower their price and you are stuck with Deceptive dealership price.
Thankfully, they quote me on 6ft bed for the truck by mistake so I changed a trim and got the truck with 5ft bed for $430 still.
To conclude,
Get multiple quotes as it is the only way to get these greedy sales rep to lower their prices or else they will aim at the highest rate and make higher commission off your back.
Horrible experience, we bought a 2025 Toyota RAV4 car and I have a problem with that car, after several reviews (3 alignments in less than 3 weeks on a new car) and contradictions between the mechanisms they try to make it seem like it's “normal”.
At first everything is fine but then they don't help you, I don't recommend this dealer because they tell you that “everything is guaranteed” and it's false.
They deceive in order to sell.
BUYER BEWARE: We went through Costco Auto Program, they called us right after we submitted a request and told them which car we needed to test drive today. They said they had it in stock and we can test drive; we scheduled an appt same day. My fiancé drove 40 minutes to go test drive. He gets there and they said the sold the car earlier in the day. He went through five other people, and in the end they did not honor the original price based off of what the Costco Specialist had given him, which was around 33,000 for the Prius with Costco Discounts OTD with tax, tags, etc. By the time it went to the manager, they add 4k in add ons which inflated the cost to around 38,000! When my fiance rejected the add-ons, the manager said they were required and tried haggling him, and said that we MUST pick a package despite us explicitly saying we wanted to go with base price. THE ENTIRE REASON WE WENT THROUGH COSTCO WAS TO NOT BE HAGGLED. Completely unprofessional. The manager stated that they just started the Costco Auto Program two weeks ago, and that they were probably not going to continue with this anymore. I am making a formal complaint through Costco Auto Program. Completely unethical and slimey business practices. Do not go here. Waste of time. We are going with Honda instead due to this horrible experience with the brand representations of Toyota.
