What Others Say
OK I have to give credit where credit is due. This was probably the hardest sale they ever made, and I apologize to Julie Andrews and Michael OConnell, and to David Melkonian for all the grief we gave them.
But that being said, you can buy your Suburu anywhere, from the "big box" dealerships, or you can buy from a family owned dealership.
The Melkonian family have been selling cars since Moby Dick was a minnow. I have bought many cars from their other dealerships ( Ford) but this was a family members first car and she wanted a Suburu.
She had gone to 2 other dealers, including one of the bigger of the big faceless company owned ones and did not like how she was treated. She said to me that she was treated much better at North Reading Suburu.
In the end she might have paid just a little more for the car she wanted, but not enough to get bent out of shape about.
What she got in return was the car she wanted, fair treatment, and a dealership with one of the best Suburu service departments around and I can say that from experience.
When you buy a car you are also entering into a relationship should you need warranty service. Being a small dealer they have the ability to work closely with their customers in the unlikely event you need warranty service. The big box service writers and service managers are not going to take the time to fight for you. North Reading will.
Again, my thanks and apologies to David Melkonian, Julie Andrews and Mike O'Connell for all the trouble. All of you went above and beyond.
Outstanding, five star service. Mark in the Service Department and the younger mechanic who serviced my car today, December 30, deserve a bonus. I walked in this afternoon in a panic because my Subaru, which I need to drive back to DC, had a complete system failure. Mark was extremely patient with me and helped me get the claim number associated with the battery defect class action suit. Once Mark got that, he set up my car with an excellent mechanic (I wish I got his name) who did the diagnostics and needed repairs in about an hour. My Subaru is working like a charm again. I cannot thank North Reading Subaru enough for getting my car ready to go again for my drive back to DC. Your team is the best.
Here’s my final update,
I did have a bad experience trying to reach out to the service department about a windshield spontaneously cracking two weeks into ownership, one claim against my auto insurance later the windshield is fixed. About two months later I had an engine code pop up and they’ve been nothing but helpful so far. First impressions with the service department aside, this second experience has been painless so far
Acceptable experience with this dealership during purchase. Currently there’s a shortage of new cars at pretty much every dealership so it wasn’t surprising that they didn’t have any on the lot, no other Subaru dealerships in the area did either. Unlike the other dealerships I visited this one would take deposits to hold a new car that was still in transit! Other dealerships wanted full payment before they would reserve a car that was on its way.
There was some miscommunication about the port date being the arrival date, so I did get the car approximately two weeks later than I initially expected. The salesman working with me and his manager did apologize for the miscommunication and offer some good will negotiation to make up for it.
The entire experience was very low pressure, I was not badgered about warranties or add ons at all!
Options were explained and I got ZERO pushback when I said no thank you. (This is the only time I’ve EVER not been met with a pushy sales pitch for the add ons or warranty)
The salesman did a good job explaining the features of the car, which are numerous.
While I didn’t get any amazing deal or discounts (no one is due to chip shortages and super low inventory so no surprises there)
Just got my 2021 Subaru Crosstrek from here. My sales consultant was Gene D'Alessandro, and it was by far the best car-buying experience I ever had! It's a small place, super-nice group of people. Very laid-back vibe. Zero sales pressure. Awesome deal. Registry services. There is not one negative thing I can say. I'm so happy I found them. I really didn't want to deal with AutoFair in Haverhill. And I LOVE my Subaru. So, I'll be a lifelong customer.
Just purchased Forrester from North Reading Subaru. Maria was wonderful to deal with and insured my car buying experience was hassle-free. She went out of her way to find a car to meet my needs, reviewed all its features with me, and followed up to make sure I was satisfied with my purchase. Impressed also with Isabel with whom I finalized required paperwork.
Positive car buying experience with freindly, welcoming, and knowledgeable dealership staff.
Gene and Mike were absolutely amazing. My husband and I dreaded going to the dealership because of the stigma that surrounds them and North Reading Subaru completely changed our minds. I cannot say enough good things about them and I would recommend anyone who is buying a new vehicle to go to them they were kind, amazing and no nonsense. 5 stars all around. I will definitely use them again in the future. Thank you Gene and Mike you guys were awesome.
