Subaru Superstore responded

I spoke to the client on 9/23/14 and explained that in the State of Arizona used motor vehicles are registered and renewed on the date that they are first titled in the state, i.e., the vehicle’s initial registration date when new. The Certified Pre-Owned 2014 Forester that he purchased was one of our retired courtesy service loaners originally titled and registered in February of 2014. Given this initial titling date, the vehicle’s annual registration will always be due in February of each year… not the month from date of purchase as a pre-owned vehicle. Furthermore, the license plate calculation and fees collected were accurately prorated per Arizona Motor Vehicle Department guidelines and the client paid the correct, reduced amount. The client understands the MVD policy however indicated he would have liked to have known, prior to his purchase, that his Forester would require license plate renewal in February 2015 and not August 2015 (the used car purchase date) as he assumed. We apologize that this licensing/registration information was not clearly conveyed to the client at the time of purchase and followed up on in a timely manner.
