My Review of ACRA Automotive Group:
My husband found a 2006 Dodge Ram 1500 on autotrader.com at ACRA that he was interested in. It was a good deal, about $1500 less than local dealerships were asing for the truck. He couldn't see anything wrong with the truck, but called to make sure before we drove to buy it since we live about 250 miles away from the dealership. The salesman my husband spoke to on the phone said that the truck was in perfect condition. We couldn't see anything wrong with it in the pictures, so we didn't question the salesman. The next day we drove up to Indiana to buy the truck. The body had scratches all over it and there were a few dents. Two of the rims had big scrapes on them. The tires were in terrible condition. One of the tires had a big slash in the front wall. Another tire had almost no tread left. There was also rust everywhere in the undercarraige. with the muffle having the worst of it. My husband and I couldn't believe it was the same vehicle in the pictures, not to mention that the salesman told us that the truck wasin great condition. We said that we would still buy it, but asked that new tires be put on first. The salesman asked the manager and he agreed. After calling a few places for tires, the salesman took a break and went back to talk to the manager again. The salesman came back and said that there was a truck in the lot with new-looking tires that they could put on the truck. My husband and I looked at the tires and they did look good, so we agreed. We were still getting a deal since they were knocking $600 off the already-low price. The salesman called a few local auto shops to see if they had time to swap the tires on the trucks and then, again, went back to talk to the manager. They both came out of his office a short time later and said that they were no longer willing to swap the good tires with the crummy tires from the truck we were buying. The manager said that he didn't know the salesman had discounted the price already (I didn't think a salesman could do that without an okay from the manager), and said he just could giv us the tires as well. He looked right at me and said I had to look at it from his point of view, that he couldn't be left with a truck in the lot with bad tires. I asked him, then how could he think it was okay to give us the bad tires and let us drive 250 miles home on them. This was the last straw for me. The manager and salesman had comlplete disregard for my husband and I and our safety. I walked out and waited for my husband. For customer service I gave them a 2 because my husband in the end did talk them into putting the good tires on the truck we wanted, but I refused to buy it after being so badly insulted, given a run-around, and being lied to. For quality of work I gave a 1 for obvious reasons. I gave a 2 for friendliness because they were very friendly but, again, they lied to us in the initial phone conversations and treated us badly at the dealersip. I gave a 1 for overall experience for obvious reasons as well. I gave a 2 for the price because it would have been an okay deal, I guess.
