My Review of Auto Link & Hamilton Mobil:
I was happy with the vehicle that I purchased from Auto Link, but was not so happy with all the fees that I was not informed of by the company's owner, Joel Lyles. When I arrived to pick up my vehicle and pay the purchase price, Joel was not available to explain any of the fees, including a "processing fee" that was changed from $39 (the price I was originally quoted by the salesman) to $69, with no explanation of why the change. They passed all the fees on to the customer (me), including their business tax and the $11 of gas they put in the vehicle. Talk about being nickel and dimed! I did not mind paying the fees as much as I minded that I was not told about any work that needed to be done to my car until after it was already completed.
After I picked up my car, Joel realized that I was paying part of the purchase price with a loan and charged me a $50 "lien fee" for filling out my paperwork - which I filled out myself! I also asked for a description of the DMV fees that I was charged and, after being repeatedly told that the fees were "100% correct," Joel admitted that he did not know the current DMV fees and could be off by a few dollars. He did say he would refund any money I overpaid, but I had researched the proper fees and he would not believe me. He told me that HE was the authority, NOT the DMV. What ever happened to the customer being right??
I contested the lien fees and improperly charged DMV fees and Joel constantly interrupted me to tell me about his good reputation in the community. Well, his actions spoke louder than words and, as I told him on the phone, I will never EVER do business with him again. I hope that anyone else who enters into business with Auto Link asks for a full disclosure of all possible fees (in WRITING, b/c they will likely change!) before signing anything!
