My Review of Automax Preowned:
I had been looking for a specific color combo for an Infiniti M35x. Automax showed up on AutoTrader with the right car. (I'm in the midwest, the car was in Boston.)

But, the price for it's milage was much lower than average. I contacted the dealer, they confirmed the car was available. I independly found a local mechanic who performs car inspections, hired him to go check out the car. I called AutoMax and told them the mechanic was on his way. Mechanic was allowed to inspect and road test the vehicle on my behalf. My mechanic confirmed that the car was in excellent mechanical condition and matched the CarFax (no accidents). It did have curb rash on all 4 wheels (thus the low price). I independely hired a trucking company, again AutoMax said 'no problem, it'll be ready when they pick it up'.

Car showed up at my house two weeks ago. I had a local shop fix the wheels. It's been great.

All of this was done remotely, and AutoMax had no issue with any of that. Even with the shipping and the wheel repair, I saved over $2,000 compared to local cars (which weren't available in the right color combo anyway).

DO NOT SEE PAUL DICARLO! DO NOT SEE PAUL DICARLO! AN ASSHOLE OF A SALES REP!

DO NOT GO TO AUTOMAX PREOWNED! DO NOT GO TO AUTOMAX PREOWNED! DO NOT GO TO AUTOMAX!

I have never had such a horrible experience with an sales person until I went to AutoMax. My friend bought a car from AutoMax and suggested that if I wanted to look for a car there that I see the sales person she bought her car from because everyone else was a jerk. I cannot remember his name at the moment. When I walked in, Paul DiCarlo introduced himself and I sat at his desk with all the information about the cars I wanted to see. I asked Paul if he had a busy day and he replied with "Yes, sold 3 cars today. That is what we do here, sell cars." (Ok asshole.) He showed me to the Acura I wanted to see and gave me the keys to look inside. He was on his cell phone the entire time while I was looking in the car - the rudest thing a sales person could do! He never offered me to test drive. The other car I wanted to see, Accord, was not at the site. He told me he would call me the next day and let me know when the car was coming back to the site. He never called.

I had such a horrible experience. DO NOT SEE PAUL DICARLO! DO NOT SEE PAUL DICARLO!

My Review of Automax Preowned:
I have been shopping for a used Lexus for over a month, and had narrowed my selection down to two cars. After leaving the first dealer and arriving at Automax I knew I was in the right place. Friendly staff straight forward deal, full dealership facility. Paperwork was a breeze, no tricks or gimicks and I left the same day with the car. It's been a month now and no problems. I would reccomend this dealer to anyone buying a car.

My Review of Automax Preowned:
My salesmen was great (Randy). He made choosing between the cars easy, had my next car lined up and warmed up by the time I got back with the car I was in. (After testing 2-3 cars with him, let me test alone or with Family).

I decided on an Audi A4, left on a saturday to return on a monday. They were going to detail it and fix some curb rash.

They called monday morning to say it wasn't going to be ready for me to drive out and pick it up. Sucks because I hurried to the bank before work that morning to get the check for them, etc. Ok..what's one more day.

One more day comes, I drive almost two hours to get there. Sign everything, get out to the car, which looked great. But.. had a CEL. I walked right back in, asked about it.. said I would drive around the block and see what was happening. The car sputtered, misfired, CEL is now flashing. I'm pissed.

I get back in there to find out they can't get any service people in because it's 7pm. Understandable. I had great friends to bring me to the dealership so i could drive home with the car.. now they need to bring me home too because I have no car to drive home. I told the manager this, who then offered me a POS 2004 Pathfinder with the belts sqeaking so loudly that I said I'd rather go home with my friend, gave him the keys back. Took my plates off the A4, drove home VERY dissapointed. They were going to put the car in the shop first thing today, which ended meaning after 9:30, not 8:00 like they said. By ONE o'clock they have a verdict for me.. and the coilpack in the car is replaced, and it runs great. They're supposed to figuring out who can drive it out here to deliver it. I've gotten no word that it's on it's way yet.. and I've got my friends vehicle at work which will need to be returned when I get the audi. I need to know what's going on, and as usual..there is little contact and I'm left uninformed as to what's going on there. I don't know when my car's going to be here, or if I even want it.

Thank god for Mass's buyer protection laws. We'll see how it goes.

TERRIBLE

After making an appointment on a sleepy Sunday morning, the salesman left us wandering around in the cold while he did some paperwork. Three other guys in the showroom say reading the paper and no one would help us.

We told them "I'm not sure this is the right place to buy a car" and the saleman AGREED with us. Wow, business must be good for these guys.

Best of luck, but proceed with caution.

My Review of Automax Preowned:
It's usually hard to root out a good quality used car and get it for a decent price, but I managed it, and it was easier than I thought. My Sable was pretty much done and I thought it was a good idea to research replacements before it died on the road by surprise. I saw a large preowned lot next to a McDonald's where I stopped for a bite so I wandered over. I really wasn't in the market yet, so I thought, but the lineup of quality off-lease cars there gave me plenty of ideas. I discovered they don't start with a price and play games with your head with it; the prices are as good as any others I found, and for the mileage and appearance, I didn't feel like shopping anywhere else. I came back about ten days later after I found their inventory online and saved some time by picking out a couple of favorites on the internet. They made it just unbelievably easy to try one and buy it-- nothing like the horror stories I'd been through in other places. The salesman--I forget his name--was fun and easy to talk to and he was almost a sales clerk, he was so helpful and considerate. He explained the numbers to me so I could understand them, and I did. I had picked out a car they'd just got in, a Nissan Altima, and it was detailed that day while I talked finances with their business manager. I got a good loan rate and they put new plates and a sticker on it for me so I didn't have to wait in any lines for that. That was the next day. I didn't think anyone selling cars would make it easy and relaxing for a nervous type like me, but AutoMax Preowned did it. They're a volume dealership, but they didn't make me feel like I had fly out of there with a car TODAY like other dealerships. I'd like to buy more cars there. I'm really happy to talk up the good experience I had, buying a used car there and getting it delivered fast with a lot of attention to me and other details. I'm bringing it back when I can for service. They seem cheaper and more helpful than other places I've been.
