My Review of Bill Estes Chevrolet:
Have brought our Alero to Estes Chevrolet for rotor and pads replacement because of brake pulsating. First was fixed by Olds dealer at 7000 miles for free. Estes fixed again at 28,000 miles and blamed Olds dealer for poor service and us for the way we drove it! GM paid 1/2 cost of repairs. At 41,000 miles, brakes again pulsated and grinded; took it to CarX for another opinoin since this was 3rd time with GM parts & dealers being used before. CarX said rotors & pads needed to be replaced; would charge us $284. In order to work again with GM Customer Service, then brought car back into Estes Chevrolet . Told us we were "racing" the car and caliper was bad, causing rotors and pads to wear again! Called GM Service Center; they only offered to pay half. Estes told us the estimate was $1000 to fix the brake problems; GM Service Center told us Estes gave them an $800 estimate. Pressed GM to find out the discrepancy; no adequate response. I asked if GM was offering to pay 1/2 so Estes still would make money on the deal when this is now a product liability and engineering issue - brake problems have been constant since 99-03 Aleros per Car-X and my own research. GM would not put their offer in E-mail or fax to me and if I decided to get car fixed by Estes, would not agree to give me the old brake parts. Did not let Estes fix the car since the estimate was very high, problem blamed on us (instead of past work Estes did or poor brake engineering). Took it back to CarX, had them again check brakes, especially calipers. CarX again said calipers were fine, fixed rotors and pads, and stated thin metal of rotors in GM cars caused pads to have excessive wear and continuous brake problems. CarX charged $284 and gave us the old parts. They suggested we come in every 6 months so they could replace the pads before they wore down.

Estes Chevrolet did not identify the problem(s) with the brakes, tried to overcharge for the job, and the service manager blamed us "racing" the car for a non-existant caliper problem. The attitude of the mangers was flippant, rude and ignorant of what customer satisfaction means. They even gave examples of other GM cars who had to have their brakes done every 20,000 miles! I would never go back to this dealer because of different quotes on the same brake job, stating repairs that were not needed, not understanding the GM brake system problems, unwillingness to return old parts, blaming problems on other dealers or the driver, and poor quality service with the last brake replacement. In my opinion, this is a very questionable and dishonest way to do business. Estes and GM have been reported to BBB, NTSB, Ralph Nader and other consumer agencies. Other options to resolve problem and get complete customer satisfaction are being investigated.
