My Review of Boch Toyota:
I have never had a more frustrating customer service experience than I did with Boch Toyota. Before agreeing to purchase a pre-owned car, the salesman (David Augustine) and I verbally agreed that 2 new wheel caps MUST be put on prior to pick-up (the old ones on one side were badly scraped). He guaranteed that they would be replaced before the car was picked up. A week later, we picked up the car, and the wheel caps had not been replaced. His excuse was that they weren't in stock, but that he would call us when they came in so that we could come down and have them put on. Two weeks went by; we called periodically to check on the status of the order, and he was very difficult to get on the phone, did not return calls, and when we did happen to get him on the phone, he was full of excuses. Finally, he told us the wheel caps were in. We drove to Boch (we live nearly an hour away), and he kept us waiting for more than 45 minutes at his desk. When he finally had time to talk to us, it was to tell us that "the parts dept." ordered the wrong parts, and he didn't have the wheel caps for us. By that point, I was livid (he promised that they were there, we drove an hour there, an hour home, and 45 minutes waiting around for NOTHING???). He said that to apologize, he would send us 4 new wheel caps (instead of 2) via Fed Ex, so that we wouldn't have to drive to get them again (originally, he told us he could not ship them, which is why we drove down the first time). Over the next month, we called him COUNTLESS times. Our calls always went unanswered, and messages unreturned, unless we called the sales podium and had him paged, and when that happened, he had all sorts of ridiculous excuses for why we hadn't received them (from feigned confusion to blaming it on the parts dept. to promises that he would check it out and call us back... and he NEVER actually called back). After insisting that he provide a tracking number so that we were sure he was actually sending them, he finally realized we weren't going to let it go... and sent ONLY the original 2 wheel caps, not the 4 he had promised. That was a month ago. When we finally got ahold of him on the phone, he said that he couldn't send the other two because he "didn't have approval"- well then WHY did he promise them in the first place?- and to "make up for it", he would see what he could do about sending us some oil change coupons (not good enough... we already got those when we purchased the car) or a gas card. Since then, he has been impossible to reach by phone and continues to ignore our messages. We like the car we purchased, but we didn't get an especially great price on it (which was why we went out of our way to go to Boch in the first place), and the least he could do would be to honor our verbal agreement. David Augustine is the classic example of a sleazy car salesman: all talk and no delivery. He made a big deal of giving us stupid Boch Toyota t-shirts (which we threw out) and a few oil change coupons (which are only good at Boch- an hour's drive for us), shaking our hands like he was "the man" for giving us this worthless crap, but not doing what he was SUPPOSED to be doing for us. If you choose to look for a car at Boch in Norwood, AVOID dealing with David Augustine.
