My Review of CardinaleWay Mazda:
I was contacted by Michael Sprouse regarding a posting I had on Craigs list, sell my car. Michael said" If you stop by, I will get an estimate on your car, make you an offer. Then we can see if you like any cars or trucks on our lot. If so, I will give you a great price on your new car, hassel free and let's make this the best car buying experience ever. Well.....It was. What a great group of People. The place was amazing, it reminded me of the movie The Truman Story with Jim Carey. They were so pleasant, honest, and made effective use of my time. They explained everyting and were very kind to my children. It was as they acted as a Team VS. greedy commision based car sales people. They were very real not to mention the treatment of my wife and children. No brown nosing, just honest, funny, down to earth good people. I will tell everyone I know to go to Cardinale Way mazda. Greg, Al,John, and Michael amde buying a car an experience I would welcome again. These guys are true pro's. This place changed the way I had always felt about car buying.

Thank you everyone at Cardinale Way Mazda,

My Review of CardinaleWay Mazda:
I purchased a new Mazda 3 series from this dealership. The 2 problems that I have had since the car was new are still not repaired. The car has a bad transmission whine and an instrument panel rattle. The dealership is saying that now the car is out of warranty, they will not fix it. These are the same 2 problems that the car has been brought to their service dept. to fix. They are still not fixed. I wish I would have read these internet warnings about this dealership before I purchased the car from them.

My Review of CardinaleWay Mazda:
very bad experience with this dealership. i have a mazda 3 2005. the a/c compressor went bad 5k miles over warranty. under warranty i had complained about my ac blowing hot air at stop signs or going slow. it was well documented on my complaints and this dealership basicly said sorry charlie no can help. i took it to another mazda dealer and they knocked 800 bucks off the price of the new compressor. they also told me i need brake pads and it turns out i still have 50 percent left on them. what a sneaky place, i would stay away from this dealership.

My Review of CardinaleWay Mazda:
My air conditioning was blowing out warm air so I called the service department to schedule an apoointment for them to look at and the guy said that all Mazda 3s have problems with their air in the summer and that it was probably just nothing. I pushed for an appointment for them to look at it anyways. After having the car all day they called and said that nothing was wrong with it. Over the weekend it continued to blow hot air so I took it to Berge Mazda and they looked at it and said that my thermostat was sticking and it was causing my car to overheat which was causing it to turn my air off. Good thing I got a 2nd opinion or my trip to san diego the following day would have been a hot one and my car probably wouldnt have even made it according to the service guy at Berge Mazda.

Employee(s) Dealt With: Dustin, John, Unknown "BullPin" Guy

My Review of CardinaleWay Mazda:
I went in to buy a used Mazda3 hatchback. Dustin, the Sales Rep, was very helpful in letting me look around the cars as well as finding the cars that I had on a printout from Cars.com. I had two trade ins that had a bit of negative equity but John and Dustin were more than helpful in looking into what they could do. The next day, I came in to run my credit and hopefully finalize my deal. They ran my credit and it came back a bit lower than anticipated. I would have left right there with the intention to come back a few months later after working out some things on the credit but a man from the bullpin came and introduced himself to us and sat down at our table. He then proceeded to recommend to us that we file for bankruptcy because of our low credit score which will get rid of all of our collections and debit. I promptly told him that I had no trouble paying our bills and that filing for bankruptcy was a stupid idea. I took my wife and left, never looking back. Like I said, the salesman and sales manager where very nice and helpful but the quote PERSONAL FINANCE COUNSELOR end quote was a big joke. You don't tell people to file for bankruptcy to fix things when you know nothing about them. Shame. I really liked that dealership but now I will try my luck somewhere else.

Reading this review has been a brutal eye opener to those of us who manage CardinaleWay Mazda and sincerely want to ensure that customers are treated with respect and well served by our staff. Our sales reps are well reviewed and our management team (us) wqould like to think we do a great job for our customers. However, in this case we let you down by allowing a single employee give you bad advice and ruin the whole car buying experience for you. We apologize and would like you to know that the PERSONAL FINANCE COUNSELOR you reported in this review has since been replaced. Furthermore, we have issued a policy that no CardinaleWay Mazda employee is allowed to recommend bankruptcy to a customer while representing CardinaleWay Mazda. Your review speaks highly of your sales rep and we want to thank you for that positive portion of your review. If you would ever be willing, the General Manager, Mr. Phil Kerr would like to personally assist you with any vehicle purchase or service needs you might have.

My Review of CardinaleWay Mazda:
well you read my other post....but i must agree with you. having spent time at the dealership....they have their heads way up their asses. they tried to overcharge me when i was buying my car....i called em on it and they fixed it. "oh, i don't know how that happened!" they said. yes, this was during our taped session.

make sure you check their paint work. it's horrible. as per my other post....they are redoing it. i will demand gas money if this starts to happen more often. they are giving me a rental, which is good, but i will not pay for the gas i use. it's not my mistake. and my salesman wasn't sure about why they put the front plates on.....since they have them fixed out of their own pocket. but once you see the work done, you'll know why. it's cheap and pathetic.

and i just got my oil changed....with 3478 on the car. it was free. you don't have to stick to their schedule. just make the appt. and go in. oh, and that card they send you is apparently worthless. i handed mine to the service guy and he said all the info was in the computer already and it wasn't needed. wth am i carrying it around for then? and their courtesy wash.....horrible. i used to detail cars at a caddy/toyota dealership. wow, they did and crap job. i'm redoing it tomorrow at my own place. i think i'm gonna start to tackle the oil changing myself. that way i know what goes in, etc. they didn't list what brand of oil on the sheet. when i asked, they said they use "what is recommended for that model of car." nice general answer, idiot. anyhoo....on to more ranting!

ps - just stay away from this dealership. they are too young and have no clue what they're doing. boo them.

My Review of CardinaleWay Mazda:
I purchased a new 2005 Mazda3 at CardinaleWay Mazda, a relatively new dealership (as of summer 2005) located in Mesa, Arizona. I DO NOT recommend this dealership for sales or service for the following reasons:

1) CardinaleWay is the only Mazda dealership in the Phoenix area that installs front license plate brackets on their cars (a front license plate is not required in Arizona, however). On my Mazda3, this required drilling two holes in an otherwise pristine factory-fresh bumper. I had told my salesperson I didn't want the bracket but it was installed anyway. When I complained, the bracket was removed, and the holes were filled and painted by an auto body shop at no charge to me.

2) During my transactions with the finance staff, I was required to sign an agreement waiving my rights to a jury or court trial if I have an unresolved dispute or claim with the dealership. The agreement stipulates that all disputes or claims will be handled by a third-party arbitrator. Of the six Mazda dealerships in the Phoenix area, only CardinaleWay and one other dealership require such an agreement.

3) My transactions with the finance staff were videotaped and recorded.

4) I was overcharged for my vehicle's title and license fees. When I complained, the amount was refunded.

5) I canceled a pre-paid accessory installation before taking delivery of the car. I did not receive a complete refund, however. When I complained, I received a proper refund.

6) My car was not clean nor properly prepped at the time of delivery. The exterior was poorly washed, the engine compartment was very dusty, there was leftover adhesive residue on the car from the shipping covers, and three tires were over-inflated by 7 psi. I also found water spots etched into the roof paint and rear window. I re-washed the car and detailed the engine compartment myself. Because I didn't trust the dealership to do a satisfactory job of removing the water spots, I did it myself, spending two hours in my driveway carefully rubbing out the spots with a special cleaner.

7) FREE OIL CHANGES FOR LIFE: This is CardinaleWay's signature service. I was told by my salesperson that I would be able to have 20 free oil changes for as long as I own my car, and that the 20 oil changes could be done at any time. I asked if I could get a free oil change every 3,000 miles and he answered yes. Apparently my salesperson had briefly stepped out of the dealership’s self-proclaimed “No Lie Zone.” In fact, I signed a form at the time of delivery that limits my free oil changes to Mazda’s maintenance schedule, or every 7,500 miles or six months. I later asked the "Certified Mazda Master Mechanic" service advisor what brand of oil they use. He said he didn't know.

-- Soon after the time of delivery I had to have two items on the car fixed under warranty. Both items were supposedly repaired but each item had to be repaired again (at another dealership) because of either poor workmanship or because the wrong part had been replaced. I found the CardinaleWay service department to be totally inept and have since had my car properly serviced at another dealership (Showcase Mazda, Phoenix).

-- I wrote a letter to the general manager of the dealership, the dealership owners in California and Mazda's corporate office stating the problems with my experience. I received no replies.

The new management team at CardinaleWay Mazda would like to issue an apology to "gantw" for the negative experience he or she had with our dealership almost 4 years ago. Phil Kerr, Greg Limbeck and Rick Baker have accepted jobs of managing CardinaleWay Mazda since this review was logged and we have taken steps to ensure that the customers we serve today, do not have this same experience. To GantW, Once again, the NEW MANAGEMENT TEAM at CardinaleWay Mazda apologizes and would like to find a way to "make it right" if you would ever be willing to contact us and allow us to do so.
