My Review of Carr Suzuki:
We were contacted by this dealer to consider a buy-back on a 2002 Suzuki that we purchased there. The car had been in the dealer for service over the holidays, and was parked near the sales office for about two weeks. They asked for the VIN # and we answered every question to determine the value truthfully. Both the salesman and the General Sales Manager we spoke with on the phone said they "knew the car and its condition" and the GSM negotiated a final price with us. He then confirmed the deal in an e-mail that restated the VIN#, model, and price we had been told they would buy the car fror. He reassured me several times we could count on the deal. When we drove 30 miles round trip to make the transaction, they looked at the car and claimed they thought it was a different trim package and had automatic transmission. The GSM we had dealt with over the phone said the salesman that had taken the info made a big mistake, and did not ask all the right questions. They said all they could offer on the car was about $1,100 less. Then, when pressed, he claimed they had mistaken our car for one that had been parked there that was "a lighter blue," for two weeks, which we knew for several reasons was a lie (for one thing, 2002 Suzuki XL-7s were not offered in a lighter blue). We pointed out that a Suzuki dealer should be able to "decode" a VIN number and get all the trim info they need, and that putting in writing that they would sell the car for a certain price, and then to renig on that based on dealership incompetence was unethical. We left disgusted. We had wasted three hours negotiating, documenting, and then driving back and forth. A copy of the e-mail, and of a telephone recording pertaining to this negotiation, is available.
