My Review of Champion Toyota-Scion:
I recently had one of the worst car buying experiences at Champion Toyota , Houston, Tx. I'm
am in the market for a gently used 2006 4Runner as I currently own one and
it has been the best car I have ever owned, On Sat. Nov. 18th, I went to
Champion Toyota and was approached by Adrian Osorio offering to assist me. I
gave him my parameters for my purchase and he showed me several cars. I test
drove a 2006 4Runner that was supposedly in my price range and on the way
back to the dealership, Adrian said he needed to check the price as he might
have made a mistake on the price. Surprise! it was $2,000 more than he had
originally represented the price but he would talk to his sales manager, Ray
Sanabia. After 3 hours, we agreed on a price. I was presented with paperwork
$500 more than the agreed price and I walked out with the paperwork which
had the price Adrian had told me. He ran after me, begging for the evidence
back which I refused. This was the worst car buying experience I have ever
had and I strongly feel that this dealership tried to take advantage of me
because I was a single, unaccompanied woman. They would have never tried to
slip a different price to a male buyer. I have done some research on this
dealership and they have had the most consumer complaints against a Toyota
dealership, even the mega stores, in the Houston area in the past 3 years
with the BBB. I have also found blogs complaining of similar experiences and
poor service at Champion Toyota. This is particularly significant due to its
small size and I would assume much smaller volume. Also, many of the
customers that were at the dealership that day were not proficient in
English, therefore eliminating the option of writing a letter exposing poor
treatment and service. My previous experience with Toyota has been exemplary
and I consider myself a loyal customer but if Champion Toyota is an example
of future car buying experience, I'll buy another brand before I will expose
myself to this type sexual discrimination and bait and switch sales tactics.
