I had to deal with the Sales Representative Donovan. His extremely poor communication skills drove me insane. First I do want to say how grateful I am that Charles Barker worked to have cruise control installed on the vehicle i purchased. I came to see the car and immediately fell in love. I was actually very surprised that Donovan did not notice how much I originally wanted the vehicle and allowed me to walk away from the dealership without suggesting the instillation of cruise control. The reason I returned back to the dealership to purchase the vehicle was because my father was the one that informed me it could be installed! On Monday the 1st when I purchased the vehicle, Donovan told me he would immediately call the shop that was doing the instillation to get the ball rolling. It was late in the evening so he told me he would call me Tuesday for a time frame of when the car would be finished. Tuesday around 5:30 I had not heard from Donovan so I called the dealership. He was not in. The receptionist gladly called him to see if she could find out. She promptly returned my call and told me Donovan said the part would be in on Wednesday and the car should be done Thursday. Great! (not sure why he didnt call, I am his client) Again Thursday evening rolled around no call from Donovan. I called the dealership around 5:00, and he told me it would definitely be done Friday. Well of course I called on Friday around noon to get an update. I spoke to Donovan and he told me some time in the afternoon it should be done. Well I was out and near the dealership around 5PM so I stopped in. I spoke with Donovan in person, where he told me "Oh I forgot to call you its not done". I asked Donovan to Please give me an accurate time frame of when the car would be ready for pick up. Again I am glad the cruise control is going to be done, so please just give me an accurate time frame. Even if it is a week out just let me know when. He proceeded to tell me Monday. Well of course it is not ready and on top of that he was not the one to call me! I understand you are working with a second party to have this installed. But the fact that Donovan is obviously lieing to me repetitively to give me an answer he THINKS I want to hear is a complete annoyance. This is an issue I thought any sales manager (Tony Huffman) would want brought to their attention. I did email Tony letting him know my frustration. Well guess what! When I picked up the vehicle I asked to speak to Tony. Asked him if he received my email ... His reply. "No what email did you send it to?". I told him the email and he said .. "Ohhh I don't check that often." EXCUSE ME!!!! I told him the story and guess what he was just as dopey as Donovan. Oh well, Customer service just isn't their forte. One more things, Donovan get some new shoes that you can walk in. They are too big and you walk like a scuba diver Love the car! - Jamie

Since I have purchased my vehicle from your Dealership, I have had the best service from your Salesperson and from the Service Center. I am very pleased with the entire experience and have recommended your dealership to many people! Not your average dealership. With 7 lots to choose from you are not limited to what surrounds the building. The staff makes it an easy car buying experience and show what other dealers have forgotten - the customer is the reason they exist. I experienced truely great customer service from the salesman, Jay to the manager, Bobby to the finance officer, Matt. I am actually looking forward to my next car purchase!

I have been their customer since 2010; bought brand new Camry 2011, two years later traded it in for pre owned Highlander 2008. No complaints on customer service or cars quality by now. Unfortunately things get changed. Today I visited this dealership after receiving email from them: Presidents Day offer - get up to 2500$ for your trade in! So, I have discovered a nice twist; my Highlander trade in value is 13.5k including this great offer add, which is about 42% less of 16 month old original price of 23.2k... The car value according to KBB is 15k; condition is very good, timely serviced at the same dealership. Definitely I've not expected a good price on trade in, but people on pre owned department trying to make a buck on the same car second time are simply not right. This review is not really about prices, it's more about customer loyalty that this dealership has been so proud of. Bottom line, make sure you google customer's ratings on this dealership before buying from them.

Bought a 2003 Chevy 1550 truck from here and had good experience in the process. Got the truck at a great price and my salesman Matthew did everything possible to make sure the truck was just the way I wanted it and keeping me informed of the process as the truck was in the shop getting some minor problems taken care of. The staff and my salesman were very good and polite and professional I would recommend the dealership to anyone who is looking for a good used car or truck.

I happily inspected and purchased a used vehicle from the Charles Barker Preowned Outlet in January 2013. Shortly after the sale I entered the used car nightmare of check engine lights and maintenance issues. I brought the issues to the Charles Barker Pre Owned staff and was amazed by their professionalism and how quickly and painlessly the issues were remedied. I now understand that the issues were unforeseen and thank the CB Pre Owned staff for their patience and professionalism during such a potentially contentious episode. I am forever greatful and will gladly be a lifelong customer at the Charles Barker stores. Rest assured new and used car buyers, buy with confidence.

We visted charles barker pre owned with no intention of buying just looking to decide which car would fit our family best. After the amazing customer service we ended up purchasing the next night from them. All of the employees are super friendly and so helpful. They gave us an AMAZING deal and then when we were ready to buy they made it so fast. We didnt have to get switched around from person to person to finish the transaction it was all done through our salesman which was wonderful and kept it a personal. Our two salesmen were so friendly and curtious. Thank you again Charles Barker Pre Owned you are wonderful and we will be doing business again with you in the future.

Thid was an overall excellent experience , Donevan was excellent, he has excellwnt communtication and sales skills. He yook tons of time to get me into a vehicle that was just right for me! I would definately refer him to my family and friends to buy from!

As an everyday commuter from Va Beach to Portsmouth, having a 6 cylinder wasn't economical at all for my income. For about a year I had been looking into getting a Ford Fusion with a 4 cylinder engine to save on gas as we already have one in the family. Found this Fusion looking around so decided to at least go get a look at it and see what I was working with. The guys at Charles Barker Pre-Owned made it happen for me. After leaving to consider my options etc, I was informed they were willing to work with me to put me in the car the same day. I am very happy with the deal I got with low miles on the car.
