My Review of Country Ford Ltd:
I took my 2005 Mustang GT for Service at Country Ford Ltd in Levittown, NY. The brake reservoir was leaking around the cap and the fluid was falling on the frame rail where the fluid completely stripped the paint away. There is a technical Service Bulleting (TSB) from Ford describing this problem and explaining how to fix it. The dealership refused to honor the warranty claiming that they did not have to honor my warranty because I had installed an aftermarket cold air intake (air filter). The service manager told me that I needed to take the vehicle back to the selling dealership for service.
According to the provisions in the Magnuson-Moss Warranty - Federal Trade Commission Improvement Act, It is the dealership's responsibility to prove that a modification directly caused or affected the failure in question. There is no way that an air filter would have caused the brake reservoir to leak or the paint to be stripped.
According to Ford's web site, http://www.fordvehicles.com/cars/mustang/warranty/06/, a Ford vehicle may be taken to any Ford dealership for service. There is no requirement to take the car back to the selling agency. What if I had purchased the car out of state?
I filed a formal complaint with Ford and the next day, one of their managers called me and asked why I had filed the complaint. I told him the circumstances and he ignorantly stated that they were under no obligation to service my vehicle because it had been "modified". When I informed him of the federal ruling regarding the Magnusson-Moss act, he told me that I was not welcomed at that dealership and that they would never service my vehicle.
The actions of this dealership are in violation of not only Ford Corporate policy, but also federal trade regulations. This dealership should be brought into compliance with state and federal regulations and Ford corporate policy.
