My Review of Crown Honda:
I took my wife's '97 Accord in for the 90K service, CV boots and a timing belt. I had never done business with Crown before, but their price was the same as two independent shops that quoted the job. I picked the car up when they finished the job the same evening.

After my wife drove to work the next morning, I was appalled to find a 2-foot wide patch of oil on our garage floor. They were very responsive to my phone call -- probably because they wanted to avoid having to possibly replace an engine that could have seized up. They agreed to have a tow truck meet me at my wife's office so they could fix their mistake.

It turned out that the mechanic hadn't installed the oil pan gasket properly, and they claimed that the engine had only lost a negligible amount of oil. I asked them to send someone over to clean up my garage floor, but they said they couldn't take care of that for a couple of days. However, they also offered to steam clean the engine and wax the car, so I went ahead and cleaned the floor myself.

It was dark when I picked up the car the second time, and while driving home I noticed that the left turn signal was making an unusually rapid click. The owner's manual said this fast clicking indicates a burned-out bulb, so I didn't bother to call Crown. The rear signal worked fine, and since I seldom drive the car I forgot about the problem.

Four weeks later, I finally went to replace the front bulb and was shocked to see that the entire turn signal assembly was missing from inside the front bumper. When I called Crown, they checked their shop, but couldn't find the missing part. Even though the part is difficult to remove, i.e. it wouldn't have simply fallen off, they said that I couldn't prove that they had removed it.

Obviously the turn signal assembly was attached when I took the car in because their service writer or mechanic would have noticed if it had been missing. And the turn signal didn't work correctly from the moment I picked up the car, so something definitely went wrong with it during the three days that Crown had it. They offered to order the missing part for me at a so-called "reduced" price that was $10 higher than the same Honda factory part is available for on the Internet.

I told the service manager that by trying to charge me $31 for the lost part, he lost any chance of me ever bringing either of my Accords back in for service. And, of course, I won't buy my next Hondas from them in the future. But, I will tell everyone I know to steer clear of Crown Honda because they didn't do the job right the first time or the second time, and our car ended up in worse shape after their "service".
