My Review of DCH Freehold Toyota Scion:
After being completely satisfied with the experience I had at DCH Freehold Toyota in May 2002 when I bought my new Corolla, this was the first place I went when my daughter needed a car. I knew I wanted either a certified pre-owned Corolla or Yaris for her. While looking around on the lot, John Bishop came over and introduced himself. He showed me several Corollas and the one Yaris they had for sale and recommended a particular 2007 Corolla CE that had only 20,000 miles. The car was in perfect condition. John even said he would be able to take $2,000 off the sticker price.
John was very knowledgeable about the history of the car and explained that it was a leased vehicle that had been returned when the lease was up. He also showed me the CarFax report. He also took the time to look up the book value of my daughter's 2004 Hyundai Accent which had just been totalled in an accident so we would have an idea of how much money we would be able to use as a down payment. He also took the time to review the different financing options.
Although I knew this was the perfect car for my daughter, I brought her in to test drive it. She was nervous since the Corolla was a little larger than what she was used to, but John made her feel perfectly comfortable. By the time the test drive was over, she loved the car as much as I did but still wanted me son-in-law to test drive it too. He then introduced us to his manager, Darryl, and told us that if we have any other questions and he wasn't available, we could contact Darryl.
The next day, I met my son-in-law there and he took it for a test drive. John told us that the price of the car was reduced by another $1,000 dollars. Being a Toyota fanatic and knowing how they hold their re-sale value better than any other make of car on the market, I knew we weren't going to find a better deal anywhere else, especially since this was a "certified" pre-owned vehicle.
We went back again and signed the papers to purchase the car. John was very patient with walking us through through the first mountain of paperwork. He then turned us over to the financial services manager, Levie, while he prepared the temporary license plate and registration. Levie was very patient too with walking us through the second round of paperwork. While all this paperwork must seem tedious and routine to them, it's wonderful that they realize how nerve-wracking and overwhelming it all is to the customer. They both took the time to explain everything thoroughly, and made sure we knew what we were signing and why.
John's honesty was wonderful and refreshing. Not once did he try and sell us a more expensive model with bells and whistles that my daughter didn't want or need. He completely respected the fact that we were trying to stay within a certain budget and worked with us on that. He made sure we got the best possible deal for our money.
When my younger daughter is ready for her first car and when the day finally comes where it's time to retire my 2003 Corolla, DCH Freehold Toyota is the only dealership I will ever consider buying a car from, new or used.
