My Review of David McDavid Honda of Houston:
STAY FAR AWAY FROM MCDAVID OF HOUSTON!! Our experience at McDavid Houston has been an appalling experience. My husband and I visited your dealership approximately 7 weeks ago (ready) to purchase aN Odyssey (cash in hand) my husband was yelled at and talked down too by one of the managers, so we left.
A few weeks later, we were willing to let that pass and attempt to purchase (the same exact vehicle) White 2009 Oddey with RES, I get a firm/confirmed Internet price email OTD price and then I get there to do the paperwork and it was a switch and bait situation, they added TTL and tried to charge us for destination charges twice, hmmmm I think they have a different perspective of OTD at McDavid.
In fact, we were treated so poorly in Houston in general, we drove to Gilman San Antonio two nights ago to purchase our 2010 Oddey with R&N, the dealership was honest, no gimmicks, no scams, gave us invoice, with no add ons and no games.
CFC is going to be over this Monday, maybe McDavid sales people believe they can have attitudes and yell at potential customers because they have so much business right now, but just remember, Honda sales were down aprx 33% last yr and it is always word of mouth that gets you the best business and I certainly would never ever recommend anyone go to McDavid of Houston dealership in the future because of our dreadful experience.
Red flag ~ During our first visit to the showroom, there was a couple (with their children) that stormed out of the facility and told us not to buy from the dealership because of a switch and bait situation and sleezy operation, we took that with a grain of salt and temporarily dismissed the matter, but we should have listened to them instead of wasting our time proceeding weeks later.
Poor, poor poor communication, lack of professionalism, just sadly a horrible experience. I completely understand that you cannot satisfy every customer, but just google this dealership and you will see a lot of very sad unhappy people that have left reviews. You may say, well people always tend to leave negative reviews, not positive ones. This day and age people tend to do both, I am one of those people that will do both.
Russell Smith of Houston have been outstanding to deal with, even though they did not have the vehicle on hand that we wanted to purchase, they have been professional and courteous Ray Huddelston at Russel Smith and Bill Internet Sales Director with Gilman in San Antonio are honest people, so if you are in the area it is worth the drive to San Antonio or visit Ray at Russell Smith. Yes you are selling a good brand by selling Honda, but there are many dealerships around and we don't mind driving 6 hrs round trip to get good customer service and not to get ripped off.
Buying a car this day and age, should be simple and clean. I would buy from Russell Smith and I would buy from Gilman of San Antonio again, it was a pleasure doing business with both of these facilities. Oh and by the way, I wrote Mr McCulley the Sales Manager and he cannot even respond, never mind apologize. Loverly set of people over there... STAY AWAY.... I am also going to post this note on Edmunds and everywhere else I think people can be warned about them

My Review of David McDavid Honda of Houston:
My wife and I went to David McDavid to purchase a new car and were helped by Joe Berilgen. We loved the car and started talking numbers with Giraldi Cuello. He started out by giving us outrageous prices beyond what we were asking for. We then agreed to a price we were happy about, but we still had to sleep on the decision of purchasing the car. I called Joe the next day to see if the price we agreed upon was still good. He said "Yes" and wanted us to bring a deposit in. I was so excited and ready to buy the car a let them hold my entire down payment. I then spoke to Giraldi and he assured me we will get the price we want. That evening me and my wife came in ready to buy a car. Mr. Cuello then brought us out paperwork. We couldn't believe our eyes when we saw that the payments were going to be what we discussed, but with another year of financing and a much bigger down payment. We were furious. We felt lied to and betrayed. We demanded our check back and to this day we still have not received it. That same we weekend we went to Russell & Smith and the experience there compared to David McDavid was night and day. We drove out of there with a new car. I recommend that everyone stay away from David McDavid if you are on the Southeast part of town and make the drive to Russell & Smith.

My Review of David McDavid Honda of Houston:
I contacted McDavid Honda by phone to see if they could match a quote I had received from another dealer. I spoke to the internet sales manager who proudly exclaimed they would not lose a sale due to price, and he assured me they would have no problem matching the other dealer’s quote. Later the same manager called back and said he did not have the color we wanted in stock, and asked if I would be willing to put down a $200 deposit over the phone so he could get the car from another dealer. I asked if the dealer transfer would affect the price and he said “no”. The next day he called to tell me the car was in, but the dealer he got it from had installed a “premium protection package” which would cost extra. I told him I did not want it. He said he could not remove it. I told him the deal was off and asked him to refund the $200. Fortunately he hadn’t run my card yet, so that was not an issue. About five minutes later he called back to tell me that he had spoken to the main sales manager and they had managed to “skinny up” the price. I told them as long as that skinny price was what they had previously quoted, then we had a deal, otherwise to leave me alone. He droned about something for a few minutes, at which point I told him to quit wasting my time.

This was one of the worst car buying experiences in my life. McDavid Honda practices bait-and-switch sales tactics and cannot be trusted. They are a bunch of liars. AVOID THIS DEALER!!!

My Review of David McDavid Honda of Houston:
I love this place, we drove out to clear lake from sugarland because i had called and talked to Steve Sr. and asked if they had an 07 crv, i just wanted an lx. he said they did, even had a black one i wanted, so i told him we'd be out there in an hour. when we got there, he had the car already out in front, and didn't try to sell us anything else, he was the only salesman in houston that hadn't tried to talk me into the ex, he didn't even mention it. he was wonderful, and 3 hours later we drove the car home. (we waited a while for the car to be cleaned and tanked up, but we didn't want to come back the next day.) the finance guy tried to sell us a fancy warranty, but he didn't offend us or anything. we didn't try to haggle on the price, we knew it was about the only lx in houston and we had to have one that day. but we got the msrp, and they didn't add a thing to it, he even threw in free scotchguarding since we had brought our little boys. we paid cash so we didn't deal with the loan part. they had a great place for the kids to sit and watch tv, and they were full of customers, every other dealership we'd been to was pretty empty. makes you think. i would definitely go back there, they were great. just be sure you get steve!

My Review of David McDavid Honda of Houston:
My advice to you all is to do your research before you go, and do not waste one minute in McDavid.
After weeks of research, we decided to get a 07 Honda CRV LX with convinence package. With the researched numbers in mind and my check book in my pocket, we went down to McDavid Honda by the Almeda mall to take the final look.
The sales person who greeted us was very friendly, but had virtually no knowledge about the model. It was very difficult to let her understand what we need.
The sales manager was a lot worse than the sales person. After we sat there and stared at sales person going no where for about an hour. He came over, spent more time telling me how pretty my girl friend is then answering my questions. I made sure he understands we were there to buy a car and we had done our research. All I wanted to know is if he agrees with my propoosed price on a LX, or what kind of offer he can get us. Instead of answering any of my question, he keep pushing to sell his EX trim in stock, and he kept telling us people else are paying 3000 dollars over MSRP and we're lucky that we can get EX ( which we don't want ) for the MSRP. After a total of 2 hours of exhausting non-sense, He gave us a price which is about $ 1800 over what we expected. We asked him to break down the number, and we found that he added the dealer option environmental protection plan twice. $595. We decided that we had enough and walked out of the dealer. Before we left, he came over with the obnoxious 'TODAY ONLY' tactic one more time. Today only what...
I can not trust a dealer who have problem answering a straight forward question. I can not trust a dealer who avoid my questions on the model I want and keep selling the other model I have stated many times that I do not want. I can not trust a sales manager who can not add. It looked like he was trying to jack up the total price. I can not trust a dealer who uses tactics already warnned by the consummer reports. They tried to mix trade in with the price negociation, and I hate the 'TODAY ONLY' non sense.

My Advice: Do your research before you go to a car dealer. Know the sales tactics. They're plenty of tips on the web. Get up and leave as soon as something doesn't smell right.

McDavid Honda switched me to other vehicles I did not want! I was not happy with my salesperson and the manager was extremely rude. I went down the street to Honda of Clear Lake and my salesperson Paul Yuen took care of me. I would recommend him to all of my friends and family. He even gave me free loaner car service and oil changes for life! He took care of me and I am sure he will take care of you. DO NOT BUY FROM MCDAVID HONDA!

My Review of David McDavid Honda of Houston:
we went mcdavid houston to buy a honda accord and the sales manager was so rude that we were shocked. he asked us what rate we were looking for as 'it seemed' to him that we had already gone to other dealers. When we quoted a price he said "do you have cash for that money" we had a credit union check and he was like deal cannot be worked out and bye. We were so shocked that we could not even react. Shucks! with such bad service i wonder how they are still in the business.
