My Review of DeLon:
I took my 2000 Jetta in three times because it was not shifting into third gear correctly. Also, the air conditioner worked intermittently. On the first two visits when the car was still under warranty, they said that they could not find any problems. The claimed to have taken the car for a test drive, but if they had really done so, the shifting problem would have been obvious to even the most inexperienced mechanic. On the third visit, they found the cause of both problems, but the car's warranty had just expired, so it would cost me quite a bit. I did not pay them for service, and curiously, the air conditioner never worked again after that last visit. Shortly after this, the transmission failed completely. DeLon's refused to help with anything except to try to sell me another car; when they found that my credit was not very good, they told me "basically, you're screwed." They quoted me a price for the transmission, and when I took the car to an independent mechanic with a good reputation, he showed me that DeLon was trying to overcharge me by about $800. Other mechanics in Salem have a rather dim view of DeLon, and I will never do business with them, nor would I recommend them to anyone.
