My Review of Devoe Pontiac-GMC Truck Inc:
Sorry -- but one review was not enough for me! I have been to DeVoe Pontiac for service many times (see my other review), but I've also been there for sales -- and if I could possibly believe it, my sales experience was just as bad. Below are details of that account.

In July of 2002, my wife and I were shopping for a new car for her. She wanted the new Pontiac Vibe, so we went to DeVoe to get some information. This was the first new car I had been personally involved with purchasing since my Trans Am in 1998 (see my review for Red Holman Pontiac/GMC in Westland, Michigan), and I was expecting a similarly pleasant experience. But THIS WAS NOT TO BE at DeVoe Pontiac.

The salesman I spoke to was named Chris. He was a pleasant enough fellow, to be sure, and let us take the Vibe demo out for a run around the block. When we got back, we spoke to him for a bit about the car. The Vibe was a new vehicle at the time, and supplies were limited. This is understandable.

But my wife and I made it quite clear that we were interested in certain features, and much to Chris' apparent dismay, the only Vibes on DeVoe's lot did not have those features. So rather than offer to order us a vehicle from the factory or call us when a vehicle we wanted arrived, Chris told us lies in an attempt to get us to make an impulse decision to buy one of the cars he DID have in stock. He claimed that ALL GM cars were equipped with PASS-Key theft deterrent systems STANDARD, so we did not need to wait for a Vibe with the security system option. (The cars he had on the lot didn't have this.) PASS-Key is a system by which a chip is embedded on the ignition key and is used only in high-end GM cars like the Corvette and Trans Am. I went along with Chris' conversation, but it was clear he was trying to sucker us in. He also pushed me to get rid of the trade-in I had, saying he would send a tow truck to cart it away if it would help me make a decision to buy that day. I don't know about here, but in Detroit, we love our cars, and they're like part of the family. We don't just throw them out with yesterday's trash.

So I went to GMBuyPower.com and found a dealership about an hour north of our home (Plattner's Arcadia Pontiac in Arcadia, FL) that would sell us a brand new Vibe at invoice price, no questions asked, and they had what we wanted in stock. (Funny, Chris claimed to have checked dealer stock for "several hundred miles radius" and found nothing!) So I called Chris back to politely say that we found a better deal elsewhere, and the man bit my head off. Told me sarcastically: "Fine, buddy, you want to do that, you go ahead. But you'll never match the kind of post-sale service we give you here at DeVoe." If your attitude is any indication of that service, Chris, then I want no part of your "post-sale service." Or were you referring to your service department, that seems more adept at breaking things than they are at fixing them?

I will now bring this long-winded tale to a close. Please, for the love of all that's good, don't buy a car or have one serviced at DeVoe Pontiac in Naples, FL. If you're looking for a great sales staff, try Plattner's in Arcadia. And if you need service...well, the closest I could get to that was McNamara Pontiac in Orlando, FL.
