My Review of Dworkin Chevrolet Inc:
Hellooo everyonee! :)
EVERY EXPERIENCE I HAD WITH DWORKIN WAS A BAD EXPERIENCE
In august 2006, I purchased my 2006 HHR from Dworkin. I bought it "brand new" only to find out that it had around 300 miles on it and the Mats were exceptionally DIRTY (they showed me the car after I signed the papers). I was only 19 so I was just excited to drive it. (Though I did have a great interest rate of 4.89, thanks to good credit control:)
During a 2 year span of owning the car it had been towed THREE times for the same problem. The piece of junk just wouldn’t start. A 6 month old car shouldn’t have this problem. I was under warranty but it was an embarrassing inconvenience to a 19 year old living on campus. The last time I was towed for “non startage” I was about 200 miles away from warranty expiration and became concerned.
Unfortunately, no one cared enough to help. The asshole of a sales guy practically KICKED me out of his office. He asked me if I actually liked my car, then bluntly told me that all I wanted was to get a new car (are you serious?) I don’t understand why he offered to help me with his LACK of Knowledge being nothing but a pushy salesman (sorry sir, you are an assh0le).
The next time I went in to Dworkin was because my car was shaking in the steering wheel. I paid 100 dollars for them to take my car for a quick test drive and informed me 10 mins later that the ALL 4 of my custom 20" chrome rims were bent. I went to the rim shop and got my Stocks put back on and what do you know? SAME PROBLEM. . I paid 100 dollar diagnostic fee for a MISDIAGNOSTIC? I came back to report the continuing problem. The service guy GAVE ME EVERY REASON BUT the least costing/actual reason why it was shaking. During the time wasted at Dworkin, I was undermined, belittled and embarrassed. I am a kind, pleasant, soft spoken, respectful individual. I never raised my voice or showed anger, btw.
Moving along, the service guy gave me an estimate of about 450.00 to do all sorts of things to fix my car, including getting new brake pads. I actually took note and had the audacity to go to my mechanic (chevy dealers are expensive. Im a college student) and actually told him to change out my brakes. I took my old (Perfectly good) brakes off FOR NOO REASON. Why? Because the car was STILL shaking. Every time I went back and told him I had the same shaking he'd treat me worse and worse. I felt like a dog. I actually cried. I had never been treated that way in my life. I dont know if is because I am a female, Young, or a minority, perhaps the combination? Honestly, I’m not trying to apply an antiquated ideology but I simply don’t understand why these people had to treat me this way.
Overall, I drove to derby 4 times, took my old break pads off, and wasted a lot of money that I could have put towards next semester. A week after discouragement, I finally talked to a “knowledgeable” mechanic who told me it was nothing but a simple wheel balance (20.00). I was misled; bamboozled. In actuality, all I needed was a 20 dollar WHEEL BALANCE, which Dworkin happened to not mention. What a waste of time and money.
Moreover, I regret purchasing an extended warranty from these people. Not only did it cost $1500 too much, but it covers NOTHING. Not to mention, the company that provided the warranty is out of business and I can only use the EW at Dworkin. If I have a serious problem with my car, I take my business to Dan Dan the Chevy man. Their customer service is professional and they are also very nice people!
I’m not trying to dissuade anyone from Going to Dworkin. However I will add that they are all about their profit/revenues. Please be prepared for shitty treatment when out of the factory warranty (or maybe it was just me). I guess you can say I’m happy now. Totally not anticipating the day when something goes wrong with my car that actually falls under extended warranty (nothing falls under it, thank god) which will leave me driving to Derby. Hopefully when I graduate next year I will be sporting a luxury car and no longer have to deal with DWORKIN NEVERWORKIN’ CHEVORLET. :) I honestly don’t want to criticize the entire dealership but those specific employees that I’ve mentioned have casted a bad reputation on the company itself. I’m not a complainer but I just couldn’t let this get away. The finance manager was pretty nice (the new young guy). He was informative and actually tried to help. The receptionist is also nice. One of the guys in service is always grumpy (intimidating) and the mechanics seem ok.
I know this is kind of lengthy but I hope everyone has happy buying/servicing!
Best Regards,
Ms. Dworkinwillhatemewhenishowupforservice
