My Review of Ellacott Shaker Volkswagen:
I took my Passat key to get a new battery. The Service Manager said it would cost $10 to replace the battery. The bill came back at $50. When I asked why he charged me $40 extra, he said that it cost $40 to reprogram the key, which he never told me. Rather than make me the customer happy, the jerk removed the new battery from my key, reprogrammed the key to the way it was before I came in, and handed me a key without a battery. Great customer service, Ellacott! By the way, did you lose $40 when you reprogrammed my key back to the way it was originally? Or, is the reprogramming cost ($40) part of the scam too? Just thought I'd ask.

My Review of Ellacott Shaker Volkswagen:
This is a terrible dealership. I have leased 2 cars (a 2001 Jetta and then a 2003 Passat) from this dealership. I negotiated strongly for a good deal, which I'm not sure I got. But more than that, their service department is terrible. My latest car has been a true lemon, with non-stop electrical problems (lights, hazards, etc.). I have had to have the car repaired repeatedly. Every time I call, I am told that there are no appointments for at least a week. When I mention that I've had it in the shop numerous times, and they never seem to fix the problem, they could care less and are unwilling to get me in any sooner. Now that I'm turning the car in (never to again get another VW), I'm told I can't turn the car in on Saturday, because they're "too busy".

Between my husband and I leasing cars every 3 years or so, we've visited and leased from a number of dealerships in the Cleveland area. No one even comes close to the poor customer service of this dealership.

My Review of Ellacott Shaker Volkswagen:
After calling all the VW dealers in Western PA. I found a grey 2006 Jetta TDI on order at Day Audi/VW in Monroeville, PA. After visiting Day and spending a very frustrating Saturday afternoon with their uncooperative sales staff, I broadened my search to include Eastern OH.

The results showed that Ellacott Shaker VW (just outside of Cleveland) also had the vehicle I wanted and they had it on the lot.

The next day I drove the 2+ hours to Ellacott Shaker. The experience was like night and day (pardon the pun). Although I dealt with Paul M. as my salesperson, I spoke with other employees of the dealership, including General manager Michael F. They were all wonderful to deal with. They weren’t pushy and patiently answered all of my questions (and there were many). I couldn’t have asked for a more positive experience and will definitely consider going back when it’s time to purchase another vehicle.

The Jetta TDI (diesel) is in great demand and they could have easily increased the price, knowing the car would sell. Unlike other dealerships, Ellacott Shaker VW charged a fair price.

I would recommend Ellacott Shaker VW and salesman Paul M. without reservation. Believe me, it was well worth the 5 hour round trip from Pittsburgh.
