Reason for Visit: Sales
I recommend this dealer: No
My Review of Fairfax VW Volvo:
I was shopping for a new car and cross-shopped between Fairfax and Don Beyer Dulles. The difference between the two dealers was night and day - from the appearance of the dealership itself down to the workings of the deal. Appearance isn't everything though, so I'll just put down what I had issue w/ at Fairfax...
I went in on my lunch our to have my trade-in appraised, - was interested in a '07 clearance model that had already been discounted, so I wasn't expecting much negotiation there. I politely mentioned to the salesperson that I was ready to buy the car if they could give me a reasonable trade value, and I was not interested in going back and forth in price negotiations. Low and behold, the salesman comes back w/ a ridiculous trade value for my car - so I reiterated that I didn't want to play around and just wanted a reasonable value for the trade. The sales manager comes over at that point and starts giving me reasons for the value and keeps pushing me to name a figure that I am looking to get. I named my figure (just above a quote from another dealer)- and then he goes through the whole shebang again.. At this point, I just told him that I could see I was wasting my time, and we should cut our losses and I would go elsewhere - which I did, and got $3,000 more for my trade, and the same price for the car I was buying.
I don't know if they think people are idiots at this dealership, or if they just like to wear you out by haggling forever, but I would recommend going elsewhere and save time, effort, aggravation and energy.
FYI - I had tried to buy a used car at this dealer a year or so ago and had a similar experience - endless haggling w/ no progress.
