My Review of Family Toyota:
Letter to Toyota Headquarters

On April 26, 2007 I went to Toyota of San Juan Capistrano to purchase a New Tundra CrewMax.
I met Norm Svikss the salesman for Toyota San Juan Capistrano; we found a CrewMax and negotiated a deal.

I met with Freddie the salesman’s manager; he was in the negotiations along with the sales manager. We reached an agreed price for the Tundra, then they told me that the Tundra was sold to another person and that was the only one they had at the dealership.

I told them the deal was off and I was going to another dealer that had my second choice.

Both Managers assured me that they had another one coming in the next day Friday or Saturday, I told them that I could not wait because I had a buyer for my other truck and I was going to Toyota Carlsbad, again both managers told me I had nothing to worry about and if the Tundra did not come in they would give me something to drive until it did come in, I took them at their word and gave them 5,000.00 deposit to secure the Tundra.

Friday April 27, 2007 I called Norm Svikss my salesman at San Juan for a progress update, he told me he was with another customer and he would call me back when he was finished, in the meantime I sold my Tacoma to the other person because of the agreement with Toyota of San Juan Capistrano, 3 hours later Freddie from San Juan called me and told me he did not have my Tundra and he would not have one until June or July, I informed him of our agreement and I was without a vehicle.

I asked for the loaner vehicle I was promised, Freddie said he would call me back, that was Friday night it is Monday and I still haven’t heard from anybody at Toyota San Juan or seen my 5,000.00 deposit.

I have purchase 6 Toyotas over the last 20 years and have never ever been treated this way at any other dealership. I thought you should know what kind of people you have at San Juan Toyota representing your company.

My Review of Family Toyota:
Beware, this dealership is no longer Family Toyota. It is called Toyota/Scion of San Juan Capistrano & under different ownership.
The first salesman I dealt with spent the entire 30 mins with me whining about my high mileage trade in & refused to acknowledge the Kelley Blue book value. The next salesman, the "Closer" then tried to bully me into buying the car. He was very aggressive & pushy. He became irate when I informed him that I was not going to purchase the car that day & that I was going to visit other dealerships. Instead of losing my temper with this moron, I walked out of the dealership.
These two characters have to be the stupidest salemen I've ever encountered. The final price agreed on was the best I had received from among the three Toyota dealers, the dealership was less than three miles from my house, and it was the model & color I really wanted (Black Prius). Because of their boorish behavior I bought a Honda Civic Hybrid from Family Honda in Ranch Santa Margarita, twenty miles from my house. Same price as the Prius, no hard sell, & no whining or beligerent salesmen.

My Review of Family Toyota:
PRICING: I bought a Scion xB which has "Pure pricing" no haggling, you build your Car at Scion.com and that is the price you pay. Having said that, Family Toyota gave me Leather at $1000 below other Dealers in the area, FREE Oil Changes for LIFE (as long as you keep the Car obviously) and $1500 MORE for my trade in than Power Toyota.
So, I saved $2500.00 plus the value of the Oil changes. So Family gave me the best deal.
SERVICE: Unbelieveably good, my Salesman, James M. literally ran around with the peperwork, back and forth to the Finance dept, when I buy a Car I want to be in and out asap and I don't think it would have been humanly possible to process the purchase any faster. Perfect!!
FRIENDLINESS: They literaly treated my Wife and I like old Friends, the Finance Manager has a great sense of humor and made the financing part of the deal a pleasure. (They have great Coffee too).

I have better things to do than sit here on my Laptop writing about my Car buying experience (usually as bad as going to the Dentist) but FAMILY TOYOTA were so good they deserve this 10 minutes of my time.
If you're in Southern CA, looking for a Toyota or Scion, do yourself a favor, give everyone else a miss and go straight to Family, I am not affiliated with Family in any way but would not hesitate to buy from them again.
Take my advice and save yourself a lot of pain.
