To say that we were pleased, falls far short of the mark! We started out shopping for an SUV (Q7) for my wife ... and, as luck would have it, the perfect car was lying in wait -- on the showroom floor (right next to the entrance)! Our salesman, Greg, came in early -- with virtually no notice -- to accommodate our tight timeline. We loved the car but, because of another appointment, were unable to purchase on-the-spot. I asked Greg to put some numbers together and I'd speak to him the next day.
We originally planned to purchase another car for me in the Spring or early Summer. I was a very satisfied Lexus owner (LS460) and was certainly leaning toward buying another one. But I have also had my eye on Audi sedans for some time and decided to look around ... just for fun! I'm glad I did! I soon felt myself leaning in a decidedly different direction.
Of course, it would have been too easy to pull the trigger on the perfectly beautiful black-on-black A8L which they had in stock. Somewhere, in the deep recesses of my mind, it seems I had this vision of a Moonlight Blue A8L with a Nougat Brown interior. Who knew? I feverishly searched the inventories of all the Audi dealerships within a 50 mile radius and soon realized that this wasn't going to be easy. I was expecting some push-back when I asked Greg to try and locate that specific car for a dealer-trade. Truth be told, I was preparing for him to hard-sell the black car they had in stock. But not even close! Both Greg and his Manager, Doug -- almost in unison -- said they would try to make it happen.
The next day, Greg called and said he located my car. He thought they could get it to Flemington later that same day. Easy, right? Well, I pushed a bit more. Before they traded for that car, I asked if there was any way that I could see that color on a car, in person ... even if it's some other model ... since most of my research had been done on the Internet. Undeterred, Greg began searching his own inventory to see if he had anything in Moonlight Blue on his lot. Turns out he did: a new A8L, in fact! Apparently, it had recently arrived and was inventoried that very morning!! Divine Intervention?!?
Never ones to tempt Fate, we bought both cars!! I would never be described as an impulsive consumer. Indeed, if the category existed, I would probably be voted "Most Likely To NEVER Buy 2 Cars In One Day"! But my new friends at Flemington Audi made it seem so easy! Nicely done, guys! Nicely done!
CAVEAT: Since every good review needs some balance, allow me to share this criticism: A Big Red Bow (or two) would have been a really nice touch! I've taken the liberty of providing a helpful link:
