My Review of Gerald Jones Honda:
I have recently purchased a brand new CRV from Gerald Jones Honda. I went to this dealership with a trade in and a preapproved check. I already knew that I had negative equity on my trade in so I explained to the finance specialist that the loan had 130% loan to value. Mr. Troup assured me that he could make the deal happen if I had a blank check for $30000. My wife and I singed the paperwork the same day and took our new car home. A week later the bank called me and said that the check was going to be sent back. The amount was over $1400 loan to value. I called the dealership and explained to them what the bank has told me and the only answer they could tell me is that I need to come up with $1400. I explained to them that I do not have the money and they suggested I get another loan for $1400 through them. I asked them if they could just give me more money for my trade in since they only gave me $17000 and the Blue Book value was $19000. The finance specialist told me that I need to come up with the money. I asked to speak with the sales manager (Mr. Stokes). I explained to him the situation. Mr. Stokes basically told me the some thing but while he was speaking to me he was very disrespectful. I then explained to him that according to the contract paragraph #6 if the financing falls through the contract in invalid. Mr. Stokes then told me that he would not change anything; I just need to come up with the money. I went to the dealership and spoke to Mr. Troup. He wanted me to call the bank I had the loan with and allow him to speak to him to see if they will do an exception to policy for my case. I had to use my cell phone since no one offered me a phone. After being placed on hold for 10 minutes I spoke to customer service representative. I tried to give my cell phone to Mr. Troup but he was on his telephone and paid me no mind. I then went to Mr. Stokes office and tried to get him to speak to the loan company but once again he was very rude and waved me off and said to let Mr. Troup handle it. After waiting a total of 15 minutes I gave the phone to Mr. Troup. The bank told him the same thing they told me. Mr. Troup then told me that I need to come up with the money. Flustered with the lack of professionalism of the dealership I went back to work. I tried to get money from family but no one could help me out. A day later I called Mr. Troup and told him that I wanted to give the car back. He told me that I could not. He also said that once I sign the contract the car is mine. I had no choice but to speak to a lawyer. The lawyer called Mr. Stokes and explained to him that the contract specifically states that if the financing falls through the contract in not valid. He began to raise his voice and hung up the phone. My attorney spoke to the dealerships attorney and the conversation went the same. The dealerships attorney began to raise his voice and the conversation went no ware. I just found out that the dealership paid off my trade in so I am not sure what this means. I will never go through any Gerald Jones dealerships as long as I live. This has been the worse car buying experience I have ever seen.

My Review of Gerald Jones Honda:
I will NEVER again take my car to be serviced at ANY Gerald Jones dealership. My Husband and I have both had numerous problems with Gerald Jones Honda and Gerald Jones Volkswagen. We both have had problems with damage caused by closing tools under the hood (cracked radiator and battery cover). Also, I took my trouble free car in for a new timing belt (scheduled maintenaince) and just recently discovered a missing seal, misaligned timing belt--causing it to split, pry marks from removing the valve cover, the timing belt housing wasn't replace correctly and has been rubbing on the gears and ALSO a hose wasn't reattached. This is only the visible damage that I know of. The day I picked up my car I noticed a burt rubber smell--like a belt or something. We took the car back and I was informed that it was oil from the oil pan leaking on the manifold. So, I have been driving around with a timing belt that could break at any time for the past two years because the mechanics insisted that it was oil. I always thought that the best service was supposed to be from the dealership. . .
