My Review of German Motor Specialist:
I brought my car in for shock repair/replacement because my shock blew up. After I have german motor specialist repair it, a few months later, the shock broke again driving through a little bumpie road. I brought my car in to the BMW dealership this time. BMW dealership told me that german motor specialist didn't use BMW original parts. The parts german motor specialist use was not the exact fit to the car. That was the reason why the shock broke. The cost of the shock replacement from german motor specialist was around $700 total. BMW dealership charges around $600+. I would not bring my car to german motor specialist unless you want to throw your money away.

My Review of German Motor Specialist:
Went to GMS after repeated incompetence at Alison BMW.

Had taken the car to Alison for (1) a trip computer/GPS/radio freezing problem, and (2) heavy power steering at low speed.

Alison couldn't diagnose (1) and suggested a multi-thousand $ replacement of the entire unit. GMS diagnosed the problem specifically to a faulty component (not the entire unit), and repaired it for less than 1/2 the price quoted by Alison.

Alison claimed the power steering was fine in (2). GMS found the problem on their own without my mentioning it.

Only 1 glitch ... the car came back to me with the remote entry not working. But GMS walked me through resetting in, over the phone, in 10 minutes. This is the only reason for a 4, not 5, in the quality of work rating.

These guys are impressive (and I'm a perfectionist).

My Review of German Motor Specialist:
After my service period was over I was looking for a service center for a quality work and reasonable price.

GMS has provided it. They knew exactly what to do with my car. Other places told me that they need to charge 2 hours of labor to investigate what was wrong. Their prices are reasonable and service is excellent.

I would recomend these guys to anyone.

My Review of German Motor Specialist:
I used to go to Allison BMW in Mountain View but after being treated badly (in fact I was told that they were treating me better than other customers because I was patient with them), I switched to German Motor Specialist. These guys are perhaps one of the best in the bay area. They are experienced in BMW servicing, provide a friendly service and are cheaper than a dealer. They will explain the work in detail and provide you with options rather than trying to make a hard sell.

After getting my car serviced from them for over 3 years, unfortunately I moved out of the bay area. If I move back there, I wouldn't take my car anywhere else. I have a 99 328i.
