My Review of Glidden Auto Sales:
My experience with this dealership was below average. I bought an eight year old corolla from them. When I first arrived to see the car I was told by the owner as well as an employee that they do a comprehensive safety check on the cars before they sell them. The owner said that safety was his primary concern and that when they have the mechanic look at a car they make sure all safety issues are fixed. So I took the car out for a test drive and it was OK. I then took it to Midas in Natick and they told me the right inner tie rod needed to be replaced and that this was a major safety concern! The other problem that I had noticed was that the rear defroster did not work properly. How did this get by their "comprehensive safety check" especially when it was so important to the owner! So I went back and talked to them. They were only willing to fix the tie rod if I payed the asking price for the car!! If I wanted to bargain they would not fix a major safety concern! After the owner told me several times that safety is their major concern! I bought the car and yes they replaced the tie rod and they fixed the rear defroster (they soldered several of the lines and where they soldered the lines are about half an inch thick!! It looks terrible but *its fixed*) . Replacing a tie rod requires an alignment to be done. They said they will do it. I bought the car on Wednesday and they told me they would get the car registered on Thursday. I planned to pick the car up on Saturday and I told them this and also asked them to fax me the registration on Friday morning. I mentioned this five times to both owners! I called on Thursday several times about other things and always reminded them that I would like them to fax me the registration. On Friday morning I call and an employee tells me that they do not yet have the registration that they will get it Friday night. So they do not keep their word to their customer. If I am repeatedly told that they will fax it to me on Friday morning I really expect that to happen. The fact that it did not happen is completely unacceptable and shows a complete disregard for the customer. So I picked up the car and drove it a bit I had a very busy week and then was planning to go on a road trip the next week. Almost immediately I noticed that the steering wheel was crooked when the car was going straight (The wheel was about 10 degrees to the left when the car went straight). The car also pulled to the left. So as I was afraid they did not do an alignment. I did not have time to go back to the dealership as I was going on a road trip and it needed to be fixed without any games being played so I took it to Midas in Framingham and had an alignment done. The mechanic at Midas said that three wheels were OK it was just the one where they changed the tie rod that was completely off! They said that the mechanic probably just used the old fashioned chalk lines instead of a computerized alignment and probably drove the car a bit and thought it was OK and delivered it. But they said an alignment was DEFINITELY not done!!!
So Bill and Molly at Glidden charge a very average price for very poor service. They did not follow through on their promises and delivered a non - safe car.
The car was a 99 corolla bought in nov 07 for 6000$ (Which is the price asked at many other dealerships so extremely average price)
Car is OK but I am very unhappy with the games played and un-professionalism at Glidden Auto they do not stand behind their promises!
