My Review of Greenfield Dodge:
This is a chronic transmission problem w/ the Caravan line. Service engine light went on and occassionally the car was stuck at 2nd gear.
Took the car to Dick Greenfield. About 1/2 hour, they want to drop the pan which is $240. (just labor) so that they could investigate what the problem was.
2-3 hours later, got a phone call from the service dept. This time they need to take the transmission down - another $600. They found a lot of metal fillings; but still no clue what the cause of the problem yet. It is very likely to either replace or rebuild the transmission. Another 1500 - 3000 dollars.
I figured the car is old and don't really want to continue pouring money into this pit. Wish Chrysler can do something about this. It is great for the dealer so that they could use this to milk us.
Finally, told the service rep to put the pan - another 160.
At the end, I spent $400+ to find out nothing. I would think they are the expert because they manufactured the caravan. I would expect this type of service from LeeMyles or AAMCO; not from a company that claims to be the authorized dealer or service center.
Another thing, they said they rarely seen this type of problem with caravan. This is so dishonest; just check up the internet postings. From the consumer's response, the recommended thing to do is to bring the car to the dealer. I think I have to correct that response. Just a horrible experience.
