Bought 35k dollar truck from Grote in Lafayette. Bought 3400 dollar warranty. Engine went out 4 weeks after purchase. Where do I start? What happened to Grote that customers no longer matter? I’ve purchased a few vehicles from Grote. So when I drove off the lot about 3 years ago in a 2018 Chevy Silverado I didn’t think I would be in the spot I am with Grote almost 3 years later. May of 2023 Grote serviced my truck before my son and I went on our annual Mother’s Day ATV trip. At that time I was given a list of items to fix on my truck and I scheduled the work. July of 2023 Grote completed almost $2,000 in repairs. One repair was my oil cooling lines. They chose a dorman part not a GM part to put on my Chevy. I wasn’t given a choice of part. Early this year I ended up stranded for 3 hours on the side of the highway after my truck issued warnings and my engine stopped. It was late at night because I run janitorial and all this work is done at night after businesses close. I had my truck towed back to Fort Wayne to a mechanics shop (not Grote) where I was told a couple days later the oil cooling lines failed. This mechanic was very forthcoming and let me know the process in which it would be repaired and Dorman should be accountable due to the part failing. He let me know I would have to speak with Grote since they put the part on. When I spoke with the service department at first I was offered the money back for the labor of the work after I showed the receipt that it had to be replaced. When I let them know the other shop already told me the process and Grote isn’t being as forthcoming or confident in the process I was then told they could make calls but not any promises it would be covered. We are talking about a part that destroyed the engine $11,000 in damage. I was offered at first only a little over $300. Let that sink in. Grote’s service guy did make the calls, take the pictures and make the claim and Dorman is fixing the engine. I wanted to trade the truck in and leave with a different one today after they could now put value to my Chevy. I run a janitorial company and can’t be left without a vehicle. I needed to turn this situation around. Anthony Young spent more time blaming me for the miles I put on my truck than offering real solutions. 2018 truck has 125,000 miles. Yes. As I said I run janitorial. I don’t have the luxury of going to the same job location each day 9-5. I run multiple job locations from Fort Wayne to Michigan and don’t work 9-5. I work doubles and night shifts aside my team. I was told by my bank not to put money down and I was told an amount from the bank that would get approved. Anthony kept speaking about money down. He told me my bank wanted money down and they did not. He told me I had to take accountability for the miles. I did. My truck has been routinely serviced and each item I have been asked to fix I did. To include an extra coolant system was added due to Chevy’s are prone to over heat. I took in consideration the driving I did and had work done to ensure I, a single woman wouldn’t be stranded on the side of the road. Dorman took responsibility. Grote has not for putting a part on my truck that should not have been put on a Chevy. They haven’t worked with “me the people” to have a “fun experience “ or go above and beyond given the situation. I didn’t ask for this. All. Every payment has been made on time for almost 3 years. I have a bank willing to work with Grote and Anthony is blaming me for the miles instead of working out a deal. A real deal. To the owner I say this, I can hold my own door open if this is what it means to let Grote hold my door open. To the single mothers and woman out there do not , I repeat do not trust them to go to bat for you or have your back, they will not. They will blame you for driving your vehicle for business and tell you, you need to be accountable passing the blame instead of stepping up to do the right thing. More

DO NOT SHOP HERE. NOT SAFE FOR A WOMAN TO GO HERE ALONE. Sales employees took my keys to "check out" my car while I test drove one I was interested in. THEY WOULD NOT GIVE ME MY KEYS BACK WHEN I DECLINED MULTIPLE QUOTES FOR THE CAR I TEST DROVE. Continued pushing me to make a purchase that I could not afford when I stated that I was no longer interested and wished to get my keys back so I could leave. I felt very unsafe and taken advantage of. I should have never been placed in this situation... For your own safety, do NOT visit this dealership. More
These men took advantage of me. The car they sold me for 7000 broke down the first week and EVERYDAY something else goes out in it. Seeing a woman come in crying because of a situation and then selling her a crap car is HORRIBLE!!!! this is why car dealerships have a bad rep!! If I could give you zero stars I would. More
