My Review of Halpert-Chrysler Jeep:
I am so frustrated with this dealership.
Let me tell you why.... I purchased a brand new Jeep several months ago. This is my first time dealing with this dealership. Intially, I sent out over a dozen inquiries to most of the dealerships in a 60 mile radius of where I live. Halpert's was the first to respond and was very cordial and accomodating up through when I put a downpayment on the Jeep. That's when I should have gotten out.
Since I live about 40 miles from this dealership, I was hoping to do most of the transaction via email or telephone. I have made previous purchases like this from other dealerships in the past and was hoping this would be equally as convenient. I was dead wrong. After I made an initial deposit over the telephone, I received a callback from the salesman that the owner wanted me to come in and sign some papers and put more down. After making arrangements to get off work early, I went in and put more down. The Jeep that I wanted could not be ordered but the salesman found one several hundred miles away. I instructed the salesman that I wanted it and to arrange for transport to his dealership.
Since then, for all the lack of customer service I've received, I should have contacted the distant dealership and had them drop ship it directly to me. Halpert's tried several times to pick up the Jeep and the transport company they hired could not get the Jeep picked up. After a couple weeks they finally ended up using a different transport company and of course made sure I understood that it was costing them more money (although I found out that I paid more then what they paid) to get it here.
After several weeks I finally received a call that the Jeep was in. When I picked up the Jeep it was late in the evening and in the middle of a snowstorm. I figured "who cares" its a Jeep. Anyway, after several weeks past and I got to looking closely at the Jeep, I informed the salesman that there was a problem with the paint job. Several areas were thinly coated and rust had appeared at some of the welded joints. Of course, I could not just bring it back in, to have them look at it, but was told to make an appointment with the body shop. When I tried to do that I was told that the body shop is only open from 8 -5 M-F, no evenings and no weekends. Again I would have to take time of from work to get this looked at. When I finally was able to get some time off, I called to schedule my appointment only to find out that the body shop is a one person department and that person didn't work the day I was off.
So my frustration with this dealership is that I don't feel like a "valued" customer and I don't feel like they really care about my satisfaction. Once they had my money, the positive relationship went quickly downhill. Halpert's is a small dealership and originally I felt I would be treated much better. However, I have found out that if you are looking for a good place to have a long term relationship with, try the bigger dealerships. If you don't care, go to Halperts!
