My Review of Harpers Chrysler-Dickson:
Question 1

1. When a company changes ownership, does lifetime items with no disclosure on the offer at the time of purchase carry over?

Situation
Formerly Harpers chrysler of Dickson offered a lifetime Free oil change. The only statement made was 3,000 mile intervals and if I sold the vehicle, the deal was void.

I based a major purchase on the fact that I had a free oil change for life, with no terms other than the ones stated above.

New owner Sterlin Marlin, performed the lifetime program right after changing over, then on Jan 3, 2004. My wife called to schedule an appointment. The individual on the phone was rude and stated we are no longer have to continue the program because we are not Harpers.

Example:
If I owed Harpers $500.00 in services and Harpers gives ownership to Sterlin Marlin now owns the company, would I not still be liable?

Question 2
Based on this statement in the Better Buisness Bureau

"C. When the term "lifetime," "life" or similar representations are used in advertising to describe the duration of the warranty or guarantee, the advertisement should clearly and prominently disclose the life to which the representation refers"

Why are auto dealers in Tennessee offering Lifetime Deals with no statements covering the life?
