Reason for Visit: Sales

I recommend this dealer: No

My Review of Herb Chambers Toyota of Boston:
We visited this dealer last week to look at the RAV 4, 4x2, 4 cylinder. Our sales person offered us a 2006 "demo" model with just a few thousand miles, driven by one of the sales managers for the last few month that was essentially new, according to our sales person and manager there that Sunday night. When we drove in the next day to look at the demo model, it reeked of smoke and air freshener (it was a very poor attempt to mask the smoke), had a number of scratches and dings on the sides and both bumpers and scuff marks and dirt in the back. After a test drive and the typical long wait time while our sales person ostensibly fought for us to get a good deal with his sales manager, they offered us $19,999 for this model - which is barely invoice for a new one. We'd be fools to pay that for a 1 year, reasonably well-used car, excluding the sales/doc fees/etc.

Who lets their staff smoke in a demo car? I wouldn't buy my car from a dealer who allows their staff to treat their own cars this way, let alone bring it to them for service. What a laugh. We could get a new 2007 for almost the same price from a number of local dealers. The unnecessary time we had to wait for them in the dealership so they could convince us they were haggling to bring down the price - and try to wear us down - was a waste of our time.

My Review of Herb Chambers Toyota of Boston:
You need to have balls when you go to this dealer. They are one of the more agressive sales team I've dealt with. All that includes a camera recording at the finance guy.

In the end, I felt pressured, thirsty, and hungry (got in at 6pm, and out almost at 10pm!), and just signed my life away. I thought things through and decided I made a really bad decision. Called the dealer and nobody wanted to really talk to me. I went in to the shop, spoke to Diodoro, he said "No problem. I'll go talk to Nathan". A minute later he popped up and said it's cancelled.

So it was pushy, but they were honest so I give them 5 for friendliness. Overall experience is 2 because they were really pushy. Pricing on my car was about 1k over the other dealers. Granted they are in the city, I think that's a tad bit too much when a dealer less then 10 miles away is selling the identical car for almost 2k less.

My Review of Herb Chambers Toyota of Boston:
Very pushy to sell, agressive in selling used cars also, when I was not interested in it.

They seem very deceptive, although I told them I only want to test drive and need few days to decide upon, they kept on pushing and they put you in very uncomfortable position. Before I went to test drive, they said they will have the car that I want to test, but when I went there, they didn't have what I wanted to test instead they pushed me to test some other car. Multipe sales folks get involved and try push you go buy and make quick decision.

All in all, they didn't create comfortable environment and let you think freely and breath.

I would NOT recommend them. Even though I am going to buy Toyota, I am not giong to get it from them.

The thing I also didn't like about them is, the agent called me a day after and says they were rude because his boss was in bad mood. How do you beat that? They dare to even come back and push you. Why would you care if some one is asshole because they had bad day? Thats is not being professional. And I don't believe it was bad mood either, they try to play mind games, one guy pretends like he is your friend and other guy is agressive. I dont think the people who work there are happy to and they get their anger out on buyers.

My Review of Herb Chambers Toyota of Boston:
I have a 2002 Toyota Tundra pickup, which I purchased at a now-defunct dealership in Needham, MA (Salamone). When I moved near Herb Chambers Toyota, I thought I'd give them a try for service. I had a number of warranty/Tech. Svce. Bulletin issues with the truck...brakes, leather seat deterioration, and corroded wheel. All were handled with great friendliness and efficiency by the staff. Normal maintenance is also a plus.

I don't have particular knowledge about the sales side of this Toyota store, but have had pleasant conversations with the General Manager Don Papparella.
