My Review of Holbert's:
A friend of mine researched and found his dream car in September of 2007: A pre-owned 2003 Audi RS6. It was purchased used with approx 44k miles and with an Audi Platinum warranty that was supposed to be good until 10/2010 or 100k, whatever comes first (in writing). This car was literally on the dealer’s showroom floor, in perfect condition…the dealership was Holbert’s Audi/Porsche/VW in Warrington, PA. “Family owned and operated since 1954? they say. Fair market value of approx $45k was paid.

He was told the car had a “minor fender bender in the rear and the bumper cover and trunk lid were replaced”. They were shown a CarFax and the incident wasn’t even listed on the report. The car was originally sold at this dealership as well, so they stated that it had a “totally clean history”.

Fast forward to 2009 when he goes to sell the car…first issue: upon warranty confirmation- learning that the warranty expires 12/09. WOW! After complaining they offered to extend it, but couldn’t do a 100k miles, only 24k additional miles. But wait, there’s more…

Second issue: A potential buyers sends a current CarFax that states “car was in a severe collision- rear ended- major damage- car needed to be towed away”. Not really a “fender bender” as described…So now the car is completely un-sellable...nobody would touch it. This car should have NEVER been sold by an Audi dealership after this accident- it should have been sent to an auction "as is", which is standard practice with this type of damaged vehicle.

2003 Audi RS6’s were selling on the market for about $35k-$39k earlier this year. My buddy needed a wagon for his growing family so they offered up a ‘08 VW Passat wagon demo they had if they were given $10k PLUS the RS6. Based on this calculation, that means they valued the RS6 at under $20k, which is far from fair market value, even for a trade in, let alone under these circumstances. The market value of the VW was approx $30k, they had it listed for approx $33k.

He ended up trading them the RS6 plus $2500, (which I think is outrageous), but had no choice short of going into litigation. Dealer representatives later admitted (literally) that "this car should have gone straight to wholesale and should never been sold through the dealership". Really shocking story, but 100% true.

My Review of Holbert's:
We have had 3 VW's, all purchased at Holbert's. As a dealer, we highly recommend them. Sorry to say, we have been somewhat disappointed in VW product quality. Both my brother (he had 3 VW's also) and I have had quality issues with our Jettas. Not Holbert's fault; they always took good care of us as sales and service customers.

My Review of Holbert's:
I would have to say, after shopping around at many Audi Dealers,(PA,NJ,CONN,MASS) this one (Holbert's) would have to rank at the top of anyone's list. Family owned since the 1950's, we were amazed at the personal service offered and given in every facet of their organization. In sales, we met a man by the name of Robert Woolslager, who after our fourth,(4) purchase, we would recommend, without reservation.
Holbert's is very, very good at what they do for the customer, whether it be Rich,in parts,Harry, in Audi service, Will, in Volkswagen service, and I do apoligize, I am not sure who is in charge of the Porsche service,,,,,,,,,,,,maybe someday !!! They make you , the Customer, feel special, and also happy you are with them. Price, Service,Parts....... A ++++
So, if the occaison comes your way, Porsche, Audi and Volkswagen, Holbert's in Warrington, PA. , would be a good place to start, and also, could save you alot of leg work.
R&R Stroudsburg, PA
