My Review of Hunt Valley Saab:
The parts department is out of this world. The sales department is friendly. The service department should burn in hell.

I've had 11 Saabs and am frequently in there. Since I've been there I've had these problems with the service department.

1. I brought in an '89 900 with auto transmission problems. I told them I checked the linkages but couldn't find anything, could they check the tranny. They said yes and I brought it in. When I went to pick it up, I was told that They did a visual inspection and couldn't find anything. I told them I could look at the damn thing myself and they were supposed to pull the pan and check the internals. They told me they didn't do an internal inspections. I said that I made it very clear that was the reason I brought the car in. I later spoke with the general manager who refunded my money. The service manager had the gall to call me back and complain.

2. I brought in a 9000 because of low compression and rough running. I asked them to do a compression test as I though it was a head gasket. I called them back 3 times before I could get them to do the test. The mechanic said he knew what he was doing and it was the lower half of the engine, not the head gasket. "I've been doing this 20 years..." yadda yadda...
Well, it wasn't the lower part of the engine. It was a head gasket. When I gave the car to my brother, he pulled the head, replaced the gasket and he's driving it today. I really would not get work done there if I didn't have to.

My Review of Hunt Valley Saab:
I have been to this dealer several time for service on my 2 Saabs. Although they usually addressed everything I brought the car in for they were less than honest in dealing the the car's warranties. They lied several times in stating the warranty company would not authorize repairs. When I called the warranty company myself I found the repairs were authorized or the dealer did not accept the compensation from the warranty company. The warranty company typically authorizes a certain amount for repairs and the dealer wants to charge the customer more. I probably wouldn't have minded settleing on the difference - I just don't want to be lied to.

When we did look at purchasing a new Saab the salesman we dealt with was the prototypical car salesman. He was less than honest about facts we knew otherwise and we just didn't feel comfortable making any kind of financial deal with him.
