My Review of Jerome Duncan Ford:
On 01/30/04 at 6:00 am I left home to go to work. I was traveling southbound on Mound Road near 18-mile road when I noticed that the heat coming out the vents on the dashboard was extra warm. About a half mile later the warning chime that the car was over heating went off. I pulled off of Mound Road at 17 mile and made it to the Marathon gas station on the southwest corner. Next door to the gas station is your establishment, Jerome Duncan Inc. I waited awhile outside the gas station and about 6:45 am I saw a light come on at Jerome Duncan. I went over and talked with Garnett Hart the Assistant Manager. He was very understanding and had me pull my car into the shop to assist me before working hours. I thank you for having people that care about others. We couldn’t see anything obvious other than the coolant boiling out of the cooling system and I had to wait until 8:00 am for the service technicians to arrive. Last June I had the cooling system on this car checked. The radiator, thermostat, and hoses were replaced along with the system flushed and new coolant added, so I didn’t know what could have gone wrong now.

About 8:30 am the service technician started work on my car and informed me that the thermostat stuck in the shut position and needed to be replaced. He also informed me that he could not guarantee the thermostat unless I had the cooling system flushed. I told them I was flushed less than a year ago. He said that the coolant was very dirty and he couldn’t guarantee the thermostat. I was late for work and I couldn’t argue with him, I told him to just do it. After the job was completed and he took the car for a test drive and said everything was fine now. I paid my bill (179.31) and got into my car. Now the check engine light was on. I went back inside to inform the service manager that now my check engine light was on. They told me that the work that they had performed had nothing to do with that, but they would hook up their computer to the car to see what the code was. The service technician got the computer and went out to the car, but the computer didn’t have the proper connection to interface with my car. I was very late for work, the car was running and not overheating and I had to go.

A few days later I was filling my windshield washer bottle, which is next to the air filter. I noticed that the top of the air filter housing was not clamped and locked in place (just laying loose) and the wire lead for the mass air flow sensor was unplugged. I connected the wire lead to the mass air flow sensor and installed and clamped the top of the air cleaner. The check engine light went off.

My first impression of your establishment was great; my last impression of your establishment leaves me with a foul taste in my mouth. My complaints are:

1) I don’t think that I needed the coolant flush.
2) Air cleaner not properly installed, Mass air flow sensor not connected.
Customer # 118533
Invoice # F1CS217437
My Review of Jerome Duncan Ford:
I was there for Sales and just after that sale, service. My experience left a lot to be desired. Every promise that I was given was broken. The service that I brought the car in for was incomplete, untimely and poorly done.
I liked my salesperson (Kevin) at first. I thought he treated me respectfully and acted like I was capable of making a decision. I am a women, so that is not always the case with car salesmen. Unfortunately, soon after I deceded on the car, things fell apart. I had to argue with the finance manager about the interest rate he told me I would get, but was not the same on the paperwork, I was suppose leave the car there overnight, so that body work could be done on it...but it was not done. I they did not complete that until today (5 weeks later) and they did a very poor job. They did not even bother to wash the car before they attempted to buff out the scratches. That is just the body work. There were MANY other things that went wrong; service problems, paint problems, key problems and the list goes on, but I am tired of wasting my time writing about it. I have wasted enough time on Jerome Duncan Ford.
