My Review of Keith Hawthorne Hyundai of Charlotte:
CAR SOLD RIGHT OUT FROM UNDER ME!

I began my search for a used vehicle on Sunday, 9/27/09. I found a 2001 Acura TL that I really liked so I decided to test drive it. I absolutely loved the car but found the price to be a bit too high. The sales associate, Fauzi Bahasuan and GM, Mark Smith, negotiated the price with me. I explained to them I would think it over and be back in touch with them. My reason for not purchasing the vehicle that day is because I wanted to do my homework on the vehicle to make sure I was getting more vehicle for the money, it had a clean title, and there were no hidden surprises I needed to be aware of.

On Tuesday, 9/29, I received two phone calls stating the Acura TL was still there and they would like to have my business and the price had been lowered to my price range.

On Wednesday, 9/30, I called Keith Hawthorne Hyundai and informed them I was interested in this Acura TL and I would like to do business with them. The first phone call I received was from Napoleon Bonaparte shortly after 12:00pm explaining that he needed my insurance information. I sent that over to him so he could get the paperwork drawn up. I was at work on Wednesday, 9/30 and I explained to him that I would be able to work through my lunch break so I could leave work at 5:00pm (as opposed to my normal leaving time at 6:00pm), sign the necessary paperwork, and bring him the down payment. I already had the downpayment in the form of a certified check and I would be ready to pick up my car later in the afternoon. I was assured that this vehicle would not be shown to any other customers as I had every intent on purchasing this vehicle.

Later that afternoon at 3:18pm, I receive a phone call from Fauzi Bahasuan, the original sales associate that helped me on Sunday, 9/27. I confirmed with Fauzi that I would be leaving at 5:00pm with a certified check in hand for the down payment for the 2001 Acura TL and would be arriving by no later than 6:00pm. According to Fauzi, my paperwork had already been drawn up and all I had to do was arrive with the check and sign and the car was mine. I was not told of any pending issues nor was I asked to leave a deposit to hold this car until I arrived. If I had been asked to leave a deposit to hold this car, I would have been happy to do that as I was financially prepared to do so. I was told that would be okay and he would expect to see me later in the afternoon.

5 minutes before reaching the dealership at 5:39pm, I received a phone call from Fauzi Bahasuan informing me that another salesperson (did not mention who) sold the Acura TL to another customer and did I wish to purchase another vehicle. I was appalled and insulted by the suggestion. Not to mention, I was in a state of shock the vehicle had been sold when I had been assured it would not be shown to any other customers as everyone at Keith Hawthorne knew I would be arriving to pick up this car. Fauzi informed me that because I did not leave a deposit on the car, it was up for grabs by anyone. I then informed him that he, nor anyone else from Keith Hawthorne, asked me to leave a deposit on the car. If they had, I would have been glad to do so as I spent a lot of my personal and business time on this specific car.
There was no apology on anyone's part at Keith Hawthorne and I was basically made out to look like the bad guy.

I am absolutely repulsed by the unprofessionalism I have witnessed today from Keith Hawthorne Hyundai. I was extremely excited about purchasing this Acura TL today, only to have it sold out from under me. This leaves a very bitter taste in my mouth regarding Keith Hawthorne's bad business tactics. I hope no one else ever has to suffer what I went through today from this dealership.

I would not recommend Keith Hawthorne Hyundai to anyone. I have made all of my friends and business associates in the automotive industry aware of my situation. Some of which are the very ones that recommended Keith Hawthorne Hyundai to me in the first place. Not to worry...they will not be making that mistake again. All I have to say is shame on Keith Hawthorne Hyundai because they just lost a great customer that would have referred a lot of business to them. However, as the saying goes, "what goes around comes around!"

My Review of Keith Hawthorne Hyundai of Charlotte:
Trying to get in on the Cash for Clunkers deal, my husband called Keith Hawthorne Hyundai and asked if they had any 2009 Sonatas. He was told by the sales manager, Tiffany, that there were several to choose from and that yes, they were still doing the Cash for Clunkers deals. Tiffany was told we would be driving from Aiken, SC - a good 3 hours away. She encouraged us to come see the cars. So, I got off of work early so we both could go right away. When we arrived, there were no 2009's in sight. We went into the show room to ask for Tiffany, and were told to wait. After about 15 minutes of waiting with no help, we spoke to the nearest free salesman asking him just to point us in the direction of the 2009's. He went in the back, and came out with Tiffany, who told us that she was on a call, and another sales manager would be helping us. In a few minutes, the other manager (Mark?) came out and informed us that they were no longer doing the Cash for Clunkers, and that he didn't know who had told us they were - even though we very said very loudly, several times, that we had spoken to Tiffany. We told him we had come all the way from Aiken on her advice, and he had no apologies to make. Only some grumbling about how they weren't getting paid for their Clunkers deals. This was the worst experience I have ever had with a dealership - bald faced lies & no apologies at all. I'm glad we didn't buy anything from them - I can't imagine what their service is like after the sale. Stay away from this dealership - slimy dealings! All the positive reviews sound like they were written by "Mon".

My Review of Keith Hawthorne Hyundai of Charlotte:
Overall, the best new car purchase experience I have ever had. I told our Sales Manager, Miguel Ortiz that I wanted "my cake and eat it too". Miguel and the Keith Hawthorne made it happen.
Overall, very friendly, pleasant, funny at times, and after a couple hours my wife and I drove off the lot in our brand new car not feeling like we had just made a mistake.
I would not hesitate recommending Keith Hathorne Hyundai to family and friends.

My Review of Keith Hawthorne Hyundai of Charlotte:
A family member recommended me to go to keith hawthorne hyundai of clt because of their experience there. I never fancied hyundais that much...I guess because you're so used to the more popular brands. I was skeptical but hey a recommendation is a recommendation.

Well, I spoke to a guy named mon and truthfully, there are only a few salesman out there that I don't feel uncomfortable with and luckily...he was one of them. That makes things go a bit smoother, I think. I don't know too much about cars so he was patient enough to break it down for me. I told him I was indecisive in between three different makes. That genesis sure is nice. Well mon was even nice enough to stick with me rather than rush me off. That definitely narrows it down more. In the end, it's all about customer service and the car.

My Review of Keith Hawthorne Hyundai of Charlotte:
I called Keith Hawthorne Hyundai and talked to a salesman, Mon, about trading in my big suv for a smaller car. Probably don't need to emphasize why on that (except for gas is crazy high nowadays). Mon was really friendly over the phone and surprisingly informative compared to other places I called. Although I was aiming for the azera, he recommended that the sonata limited was a better choice...which i somewhat agree base on all the extras and price-wise.

It was a good experience overall, think I might just go and trade my suv in!

My Review of Keith Hawthorne Hyundai of Charlotte:
I went to this dealership looking at cars. I was greeted my a guy named Mon. He was a really nice guy. I am on the younger side and usually get treated like I'm not being taken seriously. Mon treated me like I was a person looking for a car, not a young guys just wasting his time. He stayed with me the whole time I was there and answered every question I had and didn't get aggravated. Thanks Mon! I definetaly recommend ths dealership for anyone looking to buy a Hyundai. Go see Mon he'll take care of you.

My Review of Keith Hawthorne Hyundai of Charlotte:
I have heard great things about this Keith Hawthorne Hyundai dealership, so I recommended them to one of my family members who was looking to purchase a vehicle. She informed me that the customer service was uncomparable. She has never had an car buying experience like this one. It was easy, she was comfortable and never felt like she was being pushed or rushed into anything. The sales associate that helped her with her purchase was very patient, respectful, professional, and obviously knew what he was doing. I am so glad that I recommended this dealership to her and I will definetaly be visiting this dealership for my next vehicle purchase!

Thanks!

My Review of Keith Hawthorne Hyundai of Charlotte:
I have been purchasing cars for years and have been into many dealerships. I have bought Toyota's, Honda's, Jeeps, and even 18 wheelers, but Keith Hawthorne Hyundai of Charlotte has been the most professional, most friendly, most experienced, very caring and knowledgeable dealership that I have ever been into. Considering this is my first Hyundai that I have ever bought from Hyundai itself. I did not know that Hyundai been around for 41 years and they build more than just cars. I also did not know that Hyundai robots build some of the luxury vehicles. Wow! I have seen the new Genesis as well talking about quality and and look it took my breath away on top of that the value and the warranty on these things are 2nd too none. I will buy my next vehicle from Hyundai again and from this dealership.

Thanks You KHH of Charlotte,

My Review of Keith Hawthorne Hyundai of Charlotte:
I ama Soutn Carolina resident, on 3/21/08 I purchaased a vehicle from this dealership and was told that the doc. fee they charged ($489.50) covers all administrative work to transfer ownership of a vehicle to me. Specifically, all the title work and filing of DMV paperwork is covered by this fee. I subsequently learned from the South Carolina DMV office that I was overchared sales tax, title, and tag fees, by the dealership and the only way I could get a refund was for the dealer to send me a copy of the checks the delaership paid on my belalf. I would then have to pursue a refund with the SC DMV.
I contacted the dealership and requested a copy of the check from Anthony, who completed my original paperwork, and also told him that the incorrect address was used on my paperwork. After a few days of repeated calling, Christian told me she was mailing me all the original paperwork; title, bill of sale, SC form 400, etc, and a refund of my sales tax, tag, and title fees paid, and that I would have to file all these forms myself at the SC DMV to get me vehicle registered. I received all this paperwork on 4/2.
After registering my vehicle, I contacted the dealership on 4/7 to inquire about a partial refund of the dec. fee, since I did a portion of the work I paid the delaer to do.
My initial contact was Christian who told me she would discuss the issue with the general manager Mark Ficken and would get back with me. After 3 days of no response, I contacted Mark directly.
I asked if he could give me a breakdown of what services are covered by the doc. fee. He repeated what I had been told previously, that the doc. fee covers all the administrative work necessary to transfer ownership of a vehicle to the buyer, but could not give a specific breakdown. He further stated that the doc. fees are non-refundable eventhough I had filed all the documents with the SC DMV
