Reason for Visit: Sales (New)

I recommend this dealer: No

My Review of Koons Chevrolet:
I visited this dealer on Saturday April 18, 2009 to look at a 2009 Cobalt. I asked them for the 'out the door' price of the car and received one in writing. I looked at other cars and decided to buy the Cobalt. I called them on Wednesday April 22nd and told the sales person that I would be there on Friday April 24th around 6:30 pm to get the car.

I arrived there and saw that the car was out front. The sales person was there. Two hours later someone finally showed up to do the paperwork on what was a cash transaction for the dealer, since I didn't finance the car through them. The price on the sales receipt was different from the 'out the door price' I had received from the sales person. Now, that price was only an estimate. The difference was not large but to me a price given in writing is not an estimate.

Time will tell if I will tell my friends to buy a Cobalt. But I will not recommend that they go to Koons of Tysons Corner to buy it.

My Review of Koons Chevrolet:
I purchased a new Chrysler 300 from this location, it was the car I wanted with more features than I wanted for less than I thought I would pay. But, I wanted a navigation system added, and I requested the flagship MyGig system. They told me to bring it back in a couple days and the system would be installed as requested. I brought it in, they gave me a rental car and finished the install in the same day. But, the navigation system they put in my car was not the MyGig system, I immediately requested the error be fixed. I was then told that that system was only installed in '08 models of the 300, this of coarse was not mention when I requested the system and they agreed to add it. I talked to several managers at Koons, supervisors and managers at Chrysler's corporate office and got the run around. Note that I asked for one of two resolutions to this problem: put the system I requested in or remove the system I did not request and refund my money. Both of these are obviously reasonable, I was not asking for anything free or extra because of their error, just what I paid for or my money back. I took this one step further and contacted the Better Business Bureau and filed a complaint. After a couple rounds of back and forth between Chrysler, they resulted to lying to the BBB and the case was closed as resolved with the customer unsatisfied. Needless to say I will never do business with Konns again but do to the lack of corporate support I can not see myself doing business with Daimler Chrysler ever again either.

My Review of Koons Chevrolet:
Went in to purchase a new Corvette Convertible for my father. The salesman spent no more than 20 minutes with us because he had 2 other deals working at the same time, and there were several salespeople that had no since it was a weekday afternoon. Fortunately, we pretty much knew what my father wanted in the car. The only thing was that he wasn't sure if he wanted the silver with charcoal gray top, which was at Koons or if he liked the LeMans Blue with the tan top, which was at a dealership in MD. that we had already received their best price. After doing the ritual back to the manager with the "if I can get my manager to let this go at that price will you buy it today?" After a few rounds of this and 3 1/2 hours passing by because we were interrupting him delivering 2 other cars, we decided to pass on the Koons vette and go get the Lemans Blue one in Maryland. That's when just about everyone in the dealership had the time to sit and talk to us. We explained that the other car had options that theirs did not. The Sales Manager went and got a large 3 ring binder with factory ordering numbers of standard equip.,options, equipment groups, etc. and showed us that they were both equipped the same, the only difference being the colors. That's when the Sales Manager came down drastically on the price and my father could live with having his 2nd choice in color for the large difference in prices. So after arriving at the lot at 12:30 we were ready to go into the Business Managers office at a little after 8:00 p.m. After signing the paperwork and the check we drove the car off the lot. Two days later my father received a phone call from the salesman at the MD dealership to see if he was still interested in his vette. My father explained what had happened and across as upset with the MD salesman, when the salesman told my father that the people at Koons "misled" him because his car did in fact have more options on it then the one he purchased at Koons.Needless to say my father was both embarrassed and irate. When we went in to confront the people at Koons the GSM said that it must have been a simple case of miscommunication. They were not willing to undo the deal.A few days later a Customer Satisfaction Manager contacted my father to offer a few free oil changes for the misunderstanding. We contacted everyone and anyone in the Koons organization, Chevrolet, General Motors, government agencies, etc. just to be turned away at every turn.So what was supposed to be my father getting his dream car to waking to a nightmare having to look at his dream car sitting in his garage. I would rather drive around in a '77 Pinto than get a free car from Koons.

Reason for Visit: Service

I recommend this dealer: No

My Review of Koons Chevrolet:
Took in my Chevy Tracker in late October for a repair under extended warranty -- the engine threw a rod and punctured the engine block. One dalay after another--wait for the adjuster or find something else that they should have planned on fixing to begin with and then wait for parts--I get the car back after eight weeks. The service writer kept saying the warranty would pay for a rental, and the boneheads at the warranty service center kept telling me to deal with the service guy are my conduit to them. Now, GM Protection Plan only wants to pay for eight days of rental, and the dealership is denying any culpability.

My Review of Koons Chevrolet:
I purchased a 2006 Trailblazer through the dealership. At the final purchase, I was charged for Gap Coverage and was told that they would also pay the deductable if anything should happen. I read the fine print and it explicitly said otherwise. I also bought the paint and dent coverage at that time. Since then (approx. 4 months) I had to return for service and I was told that the paint and dent coverage was only for manufacturer defects and did not cover anything else. Both of these show a total lack of knowledge on their part.

A defective battery had to be replaced as it was leaking. The engine compartment was not cleaned and as a result the power steering lines were corroded and rusted. I was told these will not be replaced even though the battery was defective.

Through all this, I have been to the dealership 5 times (of which 3 were a waste because when I showed up at the "scheduled" time, I was told to come back because I wasn't on the schedule. I would never recommend them to anyone.
