My Review of Lotus of Austin:
I was looking at a 2003 Honda Civic Hybrid they had listed for a reasonable price. Went there to take a look at it. Immediately the salesperson pops the hood and displays proof that it had never been in an accident because you can tell by the frame bolts. Except that, even to my untrained eye there was one with paint chips all around it in a circle, and to my more trained companion's eye the other bolts *had* been replaced.
Besides it was obvious that it had been hit from the rear, as the back bumper was detached from the rear quarter panels by a good quarter inch on both sides.
*And* the driver door had no key scratches whatsoever around the lock, though this was a 2003 and there were plenty scratches around the trunk lock.
Worst of all, despite all the plastic and whatnot being very clean, all the engine comparment bolts were *rusted*. And both posts (I think for the struts? but they were a good 2" tall) were corroded. Nothing but white and green.
I don't know tons about cars, but how extremely obvious is it that this car has both been in a wreck *and* underwater?? Despite the second words out of the salesperson's mouth that the car had been bought from a AZ/CA wholesaler?
I know they lie. They almost kinda have to to make the maximum amount of money. But they were about to sell me a wrecked car that was almost certainly from Louisiana. I cannot believe the gall of them to directly *lie* about 2 important things right off the bat.
So...fair warning. These guys will tell you anything. Anything at all.
Oh...and when I didn't show up when I had said I would the day before, they looked at my online credit app and called my emergency contact person looking for me. Twice.
