My Review of Northampton Dodge:
Went in for some electrical problems: power locks, HVAC, lightings, etc.
They did electrical diagnostics on the vehicle and based on the codes, determined it to be a bad Body Control Module (BCM). Estimate was about $500 for a new BCM and $200 or so in labor to install. Brought the vehicle home to check some things out before committing to the work and found that the BCM was missing power! Traced it back to an arched wire in the wheel-well. Repaired the wire and was back in business. Call to get a refund on the diagnostics they did since it was obvious they didn't even check the voltages and got "We followed Chrysler's standard procedure for diagnosing the problem..."
Serious?? You bet.. standard procedure is:
1)Run diags
2) Replace BCM
3) If BCM still fails, check voltages etc
Holy waste of time! You guys don't even check the voltages before ordering a BCM?? I wonder if they even checked the fuses. They could have found the source of the problem in minutes if they simply pulled out a multimeter.
Now I'm not saying these guys don't know what they're doing... in fact I would probably recommend them if someone needed work done. They know their way around Chrystler vehicles.
But the fact that they will blindly follow flowcharts and graphs prevents them from using common sense and causes them to miss the obvious.
I tried to work out a compromise on the bill but no dice:
"We follow Chrysler standard procedure....." over and over
Electronics 101: you need power for electronics to work.
