My Review of Pacific Volkswagen:
I have owned Audi/VW cars for many years, decades. I understand the maintenance and issues that go along with these cars as you own them over the years. I have a 2002 VW Jetta 2.0 with the famous door lock module defect that VW fails to own up to and recall. The issue is a defective microswitch near the door latch, the only external microswitch of the 5 used in the unit. Anyway, due to my health problems I decided to just pay the $350 and have the dealer do the job. The part is to be around $189 and the labor about the same, so the total should be $350-400. People typically pay about $350 total for this job and sometimes less when VW decided to cover the cost of the replacement part. A class action lawsuit against VW of America is in the works from what I've read. =-)

When we went to Pacific VW in Hawthorne, California we hid the fact that we are VW/Audi enthusiasists and know what we are talking about, as they tend to treat you worse if you know anything. The service agent tried to say it would be $211 for the part and $400 for labor. It would be another $125 if they needed to clear the codes after the work,,lol. I tried to mention that they are near twice as much as other dealers, but the condescending demeanor of the two service agents made me simply disgusted and I walked.

I'll just fix it myself this time and replace the actual microswitch with the replacement part from Radio Shack for $2.99. VW dealers will only replace the whole lock mechanism which is expensive and wasteful, but I was willing to do it in order to avoid having to do the job myself. I will NEVER send anyone to Pacific VW. I've been to all the dealers in my area over the years, this one is hand down the worst VW dealer ever and probably the youngest. They won't last long at that rate, I've seen others come and go in the area who offer poor service.

AVOID PACIFIC VW IN HAWTHORNE CALIFORNIA- THEY ARE RIPOFF ARTISTS AND ARE CONDESCENDING AND DISRESPECTFUL. THEY PURPOSELY TRY TO WRITE UP SERVICE ORDERS TO COST THE CUSTOMER MORE MONEY THAN NEEDED...I CAUGHT THEM DOING JUST THAT. YOU HAVE A CHOICE EVEN IF YOU BOUHGHT YOUR CAR THEIR TO GO ELSEWHERE FOR SERVICE.

My Review of Pacific Volkswagen:
My Passat "premium" stereo stopped working several months ago, and when I took it in, this dealer said it was because it was too hot (this was February, and I had driven it maybe seven minutes!). Although they got it up and running again, Pacific vw said I had to get it replaced, but that they did not have the part. Several phone calls and three trips in person later, I keep getting a "Well, they only send us a few at a time, you're on the list but we just don't have any." When I asked if it could be special ordered, Pam looked at me as if i were insane, and said rather bluntly, "No." End of story, no apology, no nothing. In 12 years of owning an Acura, I never even imagined that the problems I have had with the Passat were even possible! I'd take my 1988 Acura back any day!

My Review of Pacific Volkswagen:
I have never been so disgusted with a service experience in my life! I cannot believe that I spent $60K on a new V8 Touareg with every available option and this is the way I have been treated! Besides the vehicle arriving more than 2 months later than promised, within the first 3 months the vehichle had several service problems requiring repair. It took over a month to schedule an appointment, and when I arrived to pick up my Touareg rental (part of the contract), they had "replaced" it with a Kia. The service department never even looked at my car the first day it was in the shop, and on the second day they returned the vehicle to me with no repairs having been completed. Apparently the parts were on backorder and had to come from Germany. The estimate was about a month just to receive the parts...after a month, I'm still waiting. Unfortunately I am only allowed 3500 characters on this site, or I could continue on with the horrible lack of service provided by Pacific. Buy your car ANYWHERE else!

My Review of Pacific Volkswagen:
After owning 7 VWs, Pacific VW has managed to smother all joy of ownership through attrocious service. While the products are good (my current is a 4Motion Passat), the terrible service kills the product benefits. Over 4 years with my 4Motion, every service visit has required at least one repeat and up to three to fix the original problem. Parts are often not replaced (engine manifold cover, wheel lock key, fender liner buttons) upon reassembly. Twice, the "repairs" have left me stranded. How do they expect to sell $80K Phaetons and $50K Touregs when they can't service a Passat?

Compaints to the General Manager and Service Manager have resulted in no change....just business as usual. My experience has been that Adrianne is courteous, Tim is indifferent, Pam acts like she is doing you a favor, and the Service Manager is anything but. I have seen other customers scream at staff...in addition to myself. Word of mouth polling among local VW owners indicates my experience is the common experience.

Too bad. Great product trashed by careless people.

My Review of Pacific Volkswagen:
Perhaps there are no good VW dealers in existence, but the two that are closest to my home are Peyton Cramer on Hawthorne Blvd in Torrance, and this one in Hermosa, are wretched. It is a disgrace for VW. The service is slow, unpredictable, and they treat you like they are doing you a favor for taking your money. Pacific is the better of the two dealerships, Peyton being the archetype sleezy used car lot feel, but neither will win any awards in the near century.
