My Review of Partyka Mazda:
The service we received here was terrible and I would not recommend that anyone take their car here. Recently our transmission stopped working on our Mazda Tribute and my husband called around to several places to decide where we should have it towed. This happened on a Monday and we were scheduled to leave the following day for a family vacation. Due to the circumstances we were willing to pay a little bit more to have the car fixed more quickly. He called Partyka and was told that they probably had the parts needed to fix the car and if not they would be in by the next morning and the car could be fixed by Tuesday evening. So we had the car towed there around 9 am.

Finally, at 5 pm they guy called to let us know that the transmission needed to be replaced and gave us a quote of just under $4000. My husband asked if that number would cover everything, parts, labor, tax, etc and he was told it would. We gave them the go ahead to order the transmission, which we were told would be in the next morning. Unlike what he originally told us, he said the car would be done Wednesday afternoon at the latest.

Late Tuesday afternoon we got a call saying that the transmission hadn’t come in, but the old transmission was out and the new one would be in Thursday morning. We were very disappointed that now rather than the original estimate of Tuesday evening we were looking at Thursday evening, but since the transmission was already out of the car there wasn’t really anything we could do.

On Thursday evening just before closing they finally called us to say that the car would not be finished until the next morning. Apparently it was a big job because the mechanic had to take out our old transmission in addition to putting the new one in. At this point I began to get angry, not only were they wasting our time, but they clearly lied when they said the old transmission was out two days before.

Friday morning around 10 my husband called to find out if the car was finished. He was told it should be done around lunchtime. So he had someone from his work drop him off at your dealership at 1 pm. He had to wait an additional 3 ½ hours for the car to finally be finished. In addition to waiting for so long he was also overcharged. We were told that due to the extreme delay in finishing the car we would get $300-400 off the original quote. This amount was taken off of the original quote we were given, but then we were charged tax on top of it, which we had been told was included in the original quote. As a result, all of their incompetence and delays saved us about $15-20. Not really worth it considering they had now wasted more than half of our vacation time and it was a $4000 purchase.

My Review of Partyka Mazda:
I have a list of bad experiences with this dealer...

1. During my first service here the lug nuts were not tightened on one of my wheels. I drove away and felt a rhythmic thumping. I thought I had a flat tire so I pulled over 2 blocks away and found my wheel lock about to fall off. I bent down and was able to spin all 5 lugs with just my hand.

2. The stitching on my driver's seat was spreading after 10,000 miles so I mentioned it during an oil change. They were very proactive and ordered a new seat cover. When it came in it was the wrong color leather (dark gray v. black) and wrong color stitching (black v. silver) and for the wrong model (size), but the installed it anyway. When I informed them it was wrong they told me that there was no other part #. I had to research it and provide the correct part # for them.

So it finally came in but then the bottom portion of my heated seat was not working. They fixed that, but then the heated seat would not turn off... not even when the car was off which lead to dead batteries. They finally fixed this but left the trim around my seat all detached. I decided to just cut my losses. I found out after moving to another state that two of the four bolts that secure my driver's seat to the floor were also completely stripped out during this service. That could be very dangerous if I were in a serious accident.

3. I was rear-ended and dropped my car off for an oil change and an estimate. When I came back at the end of the day it was in the paint booth. I had not authorized this repair and the insurance companies had not even had an opportunity to inspect it. Thank god the other party was paying cash! Then the service dept. scuffed the top of that same bumper while replacing a remote sensor on the trunk 2 weeks later.

4. My turbo seals started to leak at 32,000 miles. As soon as this was done my car started intermittently bucking and making a metal impacting sound at 3500 RPM. I complained about this EVERY 3000 miles after this and was given the standard "could not duplicate" response every time. At 52000 one of the rods bent in two places, destroying the piston, and causing the crankshaft to puncture the engine block. The engine was a complete loss. It failed at 3500 RPM and I had to contact a lawyer to get it covered, but Mazda USA eventually accepted responsibility for this $11,000 replacement engine.

5. In an attempt to solve problem #4 the service manager suggested I have the 45,000 mile service (spark-plug replacement) performed early. I was at 42,000 miles. Two days later I checked my oil and found 3 2 1/2" bolts sitting on top of my engine. I went to the dealer the next morning with bolts in hand. I was told that "those just secure your intercooler. It's no big deal." That is an exact quote!

After that I finally gave up and started going to Modern Mazda in Thomaston who duplicated the engine noise immediately and while they did not successfully fix it, they tried. They also fixed the rattle in my sunroof that I had been complaining about since 12,000 miles on that very first visit.
