My Review of Phil Long Suzuki of Denver:
We called the dealership in late December of 2004 and explained we were shopping for the best year-end deal on a 2004 Suzuki Verona EX. We had found the model we wanted on their web site.

I asked salesman Mike Jackson to give me a starting ballpark figure over the phone because their dealership was an extensive drive for us and we did not wish to waste our time if their price was not close to ours. Mike him-hawed around in classic sales-slick fashion, but finally gave us a figure. He then suggested we would also be in line for a series of cash rebates/ incentives of between $2500-$4500 off his quoted price. He also insisted these were the last couple of days for this sale, that they needed to move this model out and would "do whatever it took" to get us into the car.

My wife and I drove and arrived some 1.5 hours later only to discover that Mike had "mis-spoken" regarding the incentives/ rebates program, and apologized by suggesting he had simply "not been on the job very long". Sales Manager Rick then tried to smooth over the misunderstanding while also justifying the price we would otherwise need to pay, which was significantly higher than the original telephone 'quote' from Mike.

During the negotiations, Mike slung unneccessary dirt at Phil Long's competitors while attempting to paint themselves as being on the up and up. We found all this to be quite unprofessional.

Had Mike been honest and/or knowledgeable with us on the phone initially, this whole episode could have been avoided. Needless to say, we walked -- and assuming this is indicative of Phil Long dealerships in general, we will not be going back to any of them.
