My Review of Planet Hyundai:
My story about Planet Jackoffs
I'm so grateful this site exists because I have been yearning to tell others about my experiences.
My first experience was when I bought my car from them. I was raped, but I was young and it was my first car buying experience. A car salesman will do what a car salesman will do: try to fuck you out of as a most money as possible, but I was not keen on this fact until afterwards. I was enticed by the 5000$ Hyundai (bullshit) ads but ended up paying $12,000 for an L with a 15% interest rate. I got royally screwed with all the back end stuff that they tacked on. My payment was $278 for 60ms. Ouch. That'll never happen again, let me tell you. So anyway, more on with my stories:
I have been to planet jackoffs about 4-5 times over 5 years to get service done. Before the appointment scheduling, when I would arrive I would usually have to wait around for 20 minutes in the car service port area before anyone even noticed that I was there. Walking into the building and looking around poking my head into 'offices' usually did not speed things up.
But anyway,
I've had a warranty covered problem with one of my tail lights since I bought the car. There is a defunct switch in one of them that blows bulbs every time you put in a new one. I've known about this problem shortly after purchasing my car but each time I have tried to get it fixed, there is always some excuse why it can't be done. The first time was that they didn't have the part and I would have to come back at another time (oh gee, thanks, that's convenient for me). The second time I got the run around again with some "come back next week" excuse. The third time, about 3 months ago, about a month before my bumper-to-bumper warranty was set to expire, they tried to charge me $50 for labor to determine if there is in fact a problem. I got pretty pissed off of course because, duh, there is a problem. I know how to change a freakin light bulb. I had to leave my car there because they were busy jerkin each other off or whatever they do back in the service garage, so she was telling me this over the phone. So I asked the woman why would I be charged for a warranty covered issue and she said the $50 was a labor cost. "$50 to do what, undo a few screws?" I balked. I snapped back, "How about I go down to the service center, unscrew the screws myself in front of the service guy, save myself $50, and then you can fix the problem?" She responded, "Well then we have to charge you for the light bulb." Because this moron was not seeing through my 'thick cloud' of sarcasm, I re-phrased, "How about I come down there, unscrew the screws, bring a pack of bulbs and leave everything all laid out for you so that you can put a bulb in and watch is blow out right in front of you?" She responded, "Okay if that is what you want to do, you can.... but you'll have to make another appointment." That pissed me off because I had to schedule the damn thing a week in advance and had to deal with abandoning my car for most of the day.
So here's another fun factoid... The fuckers did check it out and I presume they determined I was right, but THEY (accidently?) CUT A SMALL HOLE ABOUT THE SIZE OF A QUARTER IN MY TINT!!!! Of course, the service prick probably didn't mention it to anyone else and even if he did I'm sure they wouldn't mention it to me. I didn't notice until later after I had already received possession of my car and noticed that my back window looked funny.
Why is it that everything to do with car is a goal post for somebody to screw you out of money?
I'm up for 60,000 mile service, but I am taking my business elsewhere.
