In my nervousness to see about buying a MINI, I hesitantly suggested to Ruby King on the phone that maybe she was too busy to see me that weekend. She smoothly replied that she had time to see me as soon as I could get to the dealership--or later if necessary. Her low-key tone reassured me immediately. Once I got there, she unhurriedly showed me my options, even though the dealership on that Saturday afternoon seemed overflowing with customers. She took me on several test drives and answered every question thoroughly, checking with her manager when she was uncertain. Although I can be indecisive, she was very patient with me. My big decision was whether to get a MINI convertible or a Mazda Miata, which I have previously owned two of. After several visits to both dealerships, I reluctantly decided that the Miata would not give me as much as the MINI. (My reluctance was only because I had last owned my Miata for seven years, and it had done me well.) I also visited another MINI dealership not all that far away from me because they had a color combination I thought I might prefer. But the salesperson there was not nearly as facilitating as Ruby, and they said they would really have to turn somersaults to give me the Prestige MINI price Ruby had arranged. (The truthful price.) I literally ran back to Prestige Mini. Although Ruby was not there, I was very sad to see a SOLD sticker on the car I wanted. But when I talked to a manager, he figured out that the SOLD sticker really was for me, and Ruby had inadvertently left it on the car the day before she took a day off. The managers and I laughed at how, good for me, Ruby had indeed made a fortuitous mistake! And she was happily laughing when she found out the next day! (Oh, I also should add that when I had a problem getting the car started my first day of ownership, Ruby sent two service people to help! The problem turned out to be nothing!) Anyway, I love my MINI, no more Miata thoughts, the little bit of service necessary has been excellent, and Ruby always has a big smile for me when I am at Prestige MINI for service. And just about everyone - strangers included - admires my MINI!
