I purchased a used Mountaineer at a good price and was assured by the salesman that the car was inspected and was in great condition. Not one week later major problems were discovered including a huge fire hazard. They were fully aware that young children would be in the car. I was passed over to the used car manager, Joe, who I found to be rude, arrogant and not willing to help except for a 20% discount off repairs and a free loaner.
However, once I spoke directly to the owner, Mr. Jeff Laetham, I was treated with respect. He seemed genuinely concerned about the situation and was willing to help. I was informed that the vehicle was previously inspected at their Richmond dealership, but that he would like to have it reinspected at the Detroit one. He arranged to have the vehicle picked up from my house and for a loaner to be dropped off free of charge.
Later that day the repair technician called and explained what was wrong with the car and that they would be repairing it free of charge.
Mr. Laethem, his repair technican and the service manager were all very polite and respectful.
