My Review of Richmond Toyota:
In 2005 we leased a 4Runner. Nice SUV not a problem with anything. We still had a few payments due on our trade-in and Richmond agreed to take care of them and turn the vehicle in to the Honda dealer for us. No pain great experience.
Fast forward three years to 02/09/08: Lease is almost up on the 4Runner we leased in 2005. Mileage in under by 5,000 miles. Truck is in great shape very clean and well taken care of. We could have bought it out right for $18,100.00 from Toyota trade-in was at $20,465.00 so I figured we had some equity in this truck and Toyota had a lease speical going so we decided to lease a new one again.
This is were it gets interesting! They (Richmond Toyota) claim they could buy newer used 4Runners cheaper from the car auction. I told them they could and I could not because I did not have a dealers license and the trade-in figures I got from the bank so that is what it is. They made the numbers work and were to take our leased 4Runner on trade to the new one and make the last payment. That was the deal! So we sign and right a check. The sales person removed the license plates from our old leased 4Runner and put them on the new one and we left happy.
Ten days later we get a call from "Flyin'" Brian Fletcher asking us how everything went and how are we enjoying our new Toyota and so on. Then he drops his bomb!!! he asked " Why did you leave that 2005 4Runner here" ????? I said "Because that is what you do when the turn in/trade in a car you are to leave it with that dealer! Then Brian said "Oh well that was not the deal" Then I said " If that is the case then why did your sales person remove the license plates from the 05 and put them in the 08 and why does our paper work state under trade in 2005 4Runner and in the area to make the last payment on the 05 reads $0.00????
Brian said that was not the deal and I told him the 05 was never taking off the table and if it had been the salesperson sitting right there would have never removed the plates from the 05 if that was the case.
So it's been from 02/09/08 until now 04/15/08 and I just received a notice from Toyota for my last payment on the 2005.
I don't know what happen to Richmond Toyota but they do have good prices but it appears the left hand doesn't know what the right hand is doing or they are trying to get around the deal that was made.
I will report back!
