My Review of Rickenbaugh Volvo:
They provide quality service but tend to recommend too many repairs. They "churn" work when unnecessary.

My Review of Rickenbaugh Volvo:
I was looking for a hard to find loaded S40 AWD. Called over 25 dealers in the South West. Rickenbaugh had the exact color & options I was looking for. Joe was awesome to work with, he gave me a quote over the phone and faxed over the all the docs.

9/29/2005: When I arrived on-site, everyone was very courtious & helpful. Joe had everything ready to go & stuck to the agreed upon price (I was nerveous after reading the previous post). Took a quick test drive. Signed the docs. Went through the new vehicle delivery explanation and I was outta there. Painless.

Lovin the new S40.

My Review of Rickenbaugh Volvo:
When I called the dealer to see if he had a car in my price range, I was assured he did. I arrived and there was the perfect car at my price. I placed a deposit and waited. Several days later I had to call to find out that they claimed to have sold the car at auction but they had another for me. [I must point out that this salesman NEVER followed up on any request I made and always forced me to do several follow-up calls to get the answers I needed.] This other car was $4000.00 higher in price (nearly 30% higher). When I went to see the car for approval, I was told by the salesman, "Cliff has set a price of $17, 649" -- by the way, the car was not available for viewing at that time; the salesman actually had the nerve to say, "I wish you had called me so I could have saved you a trip." {Why wouldn't HE call ME?} When I finally returned to actually see the car, all the paper work was prepared for a sale. I told the salesman that I was not prepared yet to buy because the price (after taxes) was above my upper limit - a number that I had repeated to the salesman many times. Also, on the first deal, the salesman had offered a discount of $1000 plus a trade-in of my (admittedly) well-worn car of $500. On the 'replacement car' he offered NO discount and a trade-in of $100!

The salesman pushed me off onto his manager, Cliff, who was a pleasure to deal with ... but it was apparent that he had NO IDEA that the price was still an issue and he began completing the deal. I stopped him. It was also clear that he had NO IDEA that I had set a total 'out-the-door' price of $18,000.00 tops. He informed me that the price was $18,999 and had been reduced to the $17.6K price -- this was COMPLETELY NEW news to me, the salesman had NEVER told me of the original $18,999 price.

Then I was sent on to deal with someone else who offered a price of $17,200 PLUS $1895 for an extended warranty! Wow, it went from bad to worse.

Now, I have no idea if they actually sold that original car to an auction or, in fact, had gotten a better offer from some other buyer (though I admit I tend to believe Cliff that it was sold at auction) but there was no attempt to make up for these failures, slights and "bait-and-switch" tactics. They burned up 3.5 hours of my time on Wednesday and let me walk without EVER trying to really make up for their failures on the first deal.

For a price of $16,750 they'd have had a sale ... but now they have bad reviews on the Internet, a negative report at the BBB and terrible word of mouth that will no doubt spread. So I say, BUYER BEWARE at this dealer.
