My Review of Saturn of Kearny Mesa:
Brought Saturn Vue in for "Service Engine" problem and subsequently ordered 3 keys (because rep said my kind of car key wears down and I needed new ones) and an oil change (he said oil change recommended every 5,000 miles). Problem was diagnosed as transmission replacement for several thousands of dollars. Decided to purchase another car in a few weeks instead of putting that much money into it. At check-out, was charged for keys (I now didn't need) and for an oil change (that was no longer necessary). When trying to ascertain why the keys were already made and oil change done BEFORE I was told about the costly transmission problem, rather than explain, the attitude was one of frivolity and avoidance of my question. Repeated answer was because my signature was on service order. Couldn't get rep to understand that my original, initial REASON and INTENTION for being there was for the service problem and that should have been financially addressed with me BEFORE doing subsequent, inconsequential services. The rep continued talking over me, telling me why I was there, etc. I was having the most difficult of times getting him to understand that it wasn't the cost (under $60) of the keys/oil change, it was that the priority seemed to be to get them done BEFORE I was given the info. about the astronomical cost of the transmission which is WHY I was there in the first place. The rep again told me that I signed the service order and he continued spouting off vocally. I became disenchanged and finally asked the inappropriate service rep to please leave and requested to speak to the Manager. The rep would not leave and continued talking! Approx. a minute later, a man showed up and just stood there looking at me. He didn't say anything because the service rep continued talking. The cashier pointed to him with her hand and said his name. This man never introduced himself, didn't bother to state his title; he never shook my hand to introduce himself; he never did anything to "manage" or "supervise" the inappropriate service rep or the situation. After telling him the situation, he asked what was it I wanted them to do for me. Told him about the, now, unnecessary keys and oil change. He repeated that I signed the service order requesting those. I indicated that the FIRST order of business on the service order was the REASON I came to Saturn in the first place, the other things were going to be done while I was there, but shouldn't have taken precedence over my INTENTION for being there. This was getting nowhere because all they repeated was that I signed the service order. Disgustedly, I ended the conversation and went to pay. While at the cashier, I picked up the keys and told the Asst. Mgr. that I didn't want to pay for the keys nor did I want to pay for the oil change. He did not, again, acknowledge anything I said. I asked for his card because I was going to make a complaint to Saturn Corporate Office. He left the area after giving me several cards. Other unsavory, dissatisfactory things occurred, but the Asst Mgr's and service rep's aloofness, disregard and presumptions were disturbing. I've been there on other occasions. Their unprofessionalism is discouraging.
