My Review of South Shore Volkswagen:
I leased a Jetta from them in 05. I just returned it today (thank god!). The service in this place has been a joke ever since I got my Jetta. There was a short time where I thought it was turning around but then it just took a dive downward again.
One time, I had my checked b/c the engine light was on and the speaker was making funny noises. Well, they called back to say that they would have to order parts for both jobs...oh and by the way, both your front and rear breaks need to be replaced! With less than a year on my lease, I didn't want to have to pay for brakes if I didn't need to so I declined to have them done after consulting with a few people. So they called to tell me the parts were in and I could bring my car back for service. I double checked that both parts were in as I only wanted to drop it off once and I would assured that they had both parts. Shortly after I dropped it off, without getting a loaner, they called to say that the "Parts dept" made a mistake and ordered the wrong part so I could either pick up my car and drop it off another time or they could have the part overnighted and fix it the next day. Well, I told them "Hell No!" on picking it up and insisted that they find me a loaner car so that they could fix my car appropriately since I already went out of my way to get it there. Everything seemed like such a hassle! As for the brakes...6 months down the road, the light came on saying the front brakes needed to be done. I made an appt to have those done and asked if they could check the rear brakes while they had it...at that point, I was told that the rear brakes looked just fine!! 90% of my service interactions have been this way! They never go out of their way to help their customers or even make you feel respected!
My one decent experience was when my car was randomly taking in water. The floors were soaking wet! Although, to get them to actually look at my car was a hassle b/c they were so busy...even though I was on vacation and just wanted to drop it off so it could be fixed any time during that week. Well, Chuck was the serviceman assigned to my car and he took the time to ask questions about what was happening and then went through the possibilities. He also called on his own to update me when he found the source of the problem and explain what he was going to do to fix it and how long it would take. Because it was under warranty, he replaced my entire carpet and liner. He was a pleasure to deal with and I felt very confident with my car in his hands.
However, I would never buy/lease or get a car serviced here again in the future! It is always way too much of a hassle! It was even a hassle for me to return my lease, which the paperwork took 10 minutes! It was inconvenient to them for me to return it over the weekend b/c they were going to be sooo busy with President's Day! Well, I doubt they were b/c with the business they have going, they can't have a very good reputation!
