My Review of Southpoint Pontiac GMC Jeep:
I went in to look at the Jeep Compass. I was there for 15 minutes and no one had approached us. FINALLY some guy came up to us and introduced himself. He seemed like he didn't really care to sale the vehicle. He lacked information about it. We found one that I was wanting and it had 200 miles on it! A 2008 Compass with 200 miles on it, he came up with some sorry excuse that it arrived in Dallas and was driven to Austin. Bull*&^. The sticker wasnt even on it!
When we went inside to make a deal he offered me a few diffrent deals. I didn't like his offers and made some of my own. He kept making rude facial expressions and made it obvious that I was frustrating him. Then the sales manager came in... He was very nice but by that time I was very PO and didnt want anything to do with them!
DO NOT GO TO SOUTHPOINT PONTIAC!!

My Review of Southpoint Pontiac GMC Jeep:
I had a new salesman that worked very hard, was friendly and professional.
The management was the problem.
The management started playing games and refusing to give information I requested concerning pricing and quickly began to show an arrogant, impatient attitude.
When I explained that I wanted the final sales numbers given to me in a legible form for my examination before we enter into a final agreement, I was told that I couldn't tell him how to run "his" dealership and if I didn't like it, I didn't have to make the purchase.
I explained that, at this point, I would not be purchasing the vehicle due to this treatment and he then explained to me that they didn't want to any business with me anyway...that they wouldn't sell me a truck now anyway.
This was the absolute worst, old-school sales tactics I have ever seen used at any dealership, anywhere.
It was like watching a bad movie that was lampooning the automotive sales industry.
I reacted with shock to his claim of not even wanting my business with me.
He told me to leave the dealership or he would call the police.
Nice.
I never threatened this loser, I just told him quietly what he could do to himself after the insulting treatment I had incurred and his offensive dismissal of me and my "business".
He was completely disarmed and his weakness was quickly exposed quickly by his threat to call the police.
Please note, I actually had walked away after making my comment, as had this manager.
He then came back out of his hiding place (the notorious secret hidden sales podium) to get in my face as I attempted to leave and proceeded to point his finger in my face while muttering his threat of arrest.
While waiting for the salesman to get my keys, this manager told me had to wait outside...that I couldn't wait inside the dealership.

Laughingly, I took my keys and left...the next GMC dealership is not too hard to find. It was hard enough to get myself to actually put up with their nonsense, it wasn't difficult to leave.

I apologized to my salesman whom had worked hard for this sale.
He deserved better than to have the sale lost because of his arrogant "superior".
This manager will still get paid, but the salesman has to start all over, working the next customer, armed only with antiquated sales tactics and backed up by a management staff with a "I'm doing you a favor selling you this truck" attitude.

My Review of Southpoint Pontiac GMC Jeep:
I called this dealership to see when the 2007 Wranglers would be in so I could come see them. The salesman said that they already had "several on hand". He even said that they were ready to go and I could drive off in one today if I found one I liked.
SO... after getting his name I drove 45 minutes across town to have a look. When I arrived, and finally located this *%$#& individual he told me that they had sold the last two the weekend before. Um... what? Yes, that's right. (remember, he had told me less than an hour before that he had several on hand) Then he says "but since you are already here, why don't you take a look at these 2006 models we have on hand? We are making really good deals on them today".

His only reason for lying to me and getting me to drive across town was so that he could make a sales pitch on something that I didn't want. The word "jerk" just doesn't say it.

Side note: I have since found out that NOBODY has the 2007 Wranglers yet, let alone last week when I talked to this guy. Not only did he lie about having them on hand, he lied about having sold them the previous week. I've learned that the pricing hasn't even been set on them yet (as of the date of this review).

You can bet that I will not go back to that dealership again for ANY reason.

My Review of Southpoint Pontiac GMC Jeep:
The sales people suck you into their dealerships with promises to pay off certain things and promises to, "Give you what you want on trade-in" to make the deal happen". Well......when you get in there they give you very little for your trade. Which in turn makes you way upside down. Then they ask for a huge downpayment with a lengthy finance term. And the payments dont even come close to where you want it. Nobody(finance) people come to try and help you. Basically, thats all they are willing to wheel and deal. It kind of feels insulting how they come at you with all the financing and trade-in dealings. Its like they really dont care to have your business. Or if you dont have excellent credit, then your not too important to them. I will never go to this dealership again. And I will tell others of my experience with this dealership.

Reason for Visit: Service

I recommend this dealer: No

My Review of Southpoint Pontiac GMC Jeep:
I dealt with this dealership's service department a couple of times in the late 1990's and came a way with a very bad opinion of them. On one occasion, I had a Jeep towed to this dealer after a minor engine fire. Went to pick it up later, after getting a rediculous repair estimate. After deciding I didn't want them to do the repair, I was charged a very high fee for estimate and/or vehicle storage. Hey, not a big surprise, but what I witnessed while standing around the service intake area did surprise me a bit. I watched the Service Manager take about 3 Service Writers around a corner outside, only about 10 feet from where I was standing. He was chewing them out for not selling enough unnecessary parts and repairs to each customer. One phrase I caught verbatim when he was addressing one of them specifically, with an invoice in his hand: "...(misc expletives)... there's not even 500 dollars of parts on this bill!...". Basically he expected every single repair bill they completed to contain at least $1000.00 or more of unneeded parts.

On another occasion I had a problem with the window regulator in a door. It was in a spot where I would have a hard time swapping it out myself, so I dropped the door off at the service department. (many Jeeps have removable doors). Picked it up, and found the already high repair bill had a "vehicle storage fee" added on to it. Hey, I didn't leave a vehicle there, I just left a door, which is about like leaving a wheel and tire. I pointed out the bogus charge to the lady at the service cashier's desk and she was unable to conceal the guilt with any kind of explaination. She removed the charge, in order to move on to the next customer, to try ripping them off.

(Hopefully someday the Texas Attorney General's Office will have the cajones to stop vehicle repair scams by continually using undercover sting operations all over Texas. Most large dealerships likely escape scrutiny currently by donating to re-election campaigns.)
P.S. The dealership also uses annoying pop-up ads on their website that are immune to the usually effective Google Toolbar pop-up blocker.
