My Review of Speedway Chrysler Dodge Jeep:
While deployed to Iraq in 2007 I asked my wife to take my 2002 Dodge Dakota in to have the transmission serviced (flushed, filter change etc). I did not specify where to take the truck, and assumed that she would take it to a local shop where we'd had work done before. Unfortunately she took it to Speedway Dodge in Lansing Kansas. The work was completed, but the shop informed her that they'd had an issue with a couple of stripped out bolts on the transmission pan. They stated that they had repaired three bolts by drilling out and rethreading the stripped bolt holes in the transmission. Now move ahead about eight months. After returning from Iraq, and prior to towing another vehicle with my 2002 Dodge Dakota I dropped the tranny pan to install a temperature sensor in the transmission. When I went to reinstall the pan I found three stripped bolt holes in the transmission. While I could get the pan to sit up against the transmission, I couldn't come anywhere near torquing it to factory specifications. So I ended up drilling and tapping the holes myself, which wasn't a big deal until my wife mentioned that the dealership had had to do that two three of the bolt holes too... Despite that experience with the dealership I went back to them in February of 2008 after being involved in a serious traffic accident that resulted in the total loss of my 2002 Dakota (great trucks!). After the accident I had the opportunity to research everything out there and decided on the newest model of the Dakota. Speedway just happened to have the truck I was looking for (TRX PKG) on the lot. The only other one in Kansas was a couple of hours away, so despite my previous experience I went down there and ended up buying the truck from them. The sales experience was fine, although I did ask them to put the truck up on a lift so I could inspect its undercarriage, and was shocked at how messy and unkept the shop area was. At any rate three months later my wife took the truck in to have its first oil change (free with coupons as part of negotiated service agreement). Now I'm a semi-professional photographer, and I always kept my camera kit in the truck so I'd have my camera if something came up. Usually I take it out if the trucks going to be unattended, but I didn't get to it before my dropped the truck off. Well when we picked up the truck the camera kit was gone. A police report was filed and the dealership was contacted. There response was to the effect that the technician who completed my oil change was a long time employee and could not have possibly stolen the camera. According to my wife the technician was a kid who looked like he was still in high school. I guess that's the sort of individual who serves as a model employee at speedway dodge. So in conclusion, I suppose the sales experience there was fine, but under no circumstance should anyone utilize the Speedway Dodge maintenance section.
